O'Neill is head and shoulders above the rest but he'd never come here so i don't think he should really be on the poll!

Billy davies

Dave Jones

SOD

I think all would do a job.

BD would kick start our season pretty quickly.

DJ would need a bit of time.

SOD would need longer.

All excellent managers though.

He won't be offered it, but I'd never go to Ashton Gate with Glenn Hoddle in charge. Out of principle.

He's a proper see you next Tuesday

Completely agree. The bloke is a berk.

And more importantly why aren't I on that list? :w00t:

love the fact that people are voting for mclaren who quit because he didnt have the money at Forest. There is a saying along the lines of frying pans and fires!!

Dave Jones for me all the way just not sure after baadiff our board are ambitious enough

If SL decided he was willing to open his cheque book big time, I'd like him to try to persuade Martin O'Neill.

In reality I know this is pie in the sky so would be happy with Dave Jones.

my thoughts exactly. I think Jones has the experience and character.

But if I was Lansdown I'd have been watching Paul Tisdale's progress down the years...

O'Neil and Curbishley are almost too obvious to be on the list, O'Neil certainly.

Voted for O'Driscoll, he just seems to fit what I'd like in an appointment and what I think Lansdown will want in an appointment.

I think we need someone who will come in and kick ass very quickly. I know he has issues but he now has experience and that's why I'd like Roy Keane. The other candidates, apart from Curbishley and the unattainable O'Neill, would not inspire much confidence in me.

Why would anyone want Dave Jones? He's harder to listen to than Keef!

I voted for Jones. I don't know as he's the best long-term choice but he looks the most likely to keep the club in the Championship for a couple of years. I don't think we can afford to gamble just now.

experienced, known to get teams up there in this division.. if you want to just listen to a manager go support blackpool..

Despite the blinkered views on here I wouldn't mind Blackpool's manager at all!!! The managers job is a bit like that of a politician. They need to have charisma, stand out from the crowd and inspire confidence throughout the whole club in order to be successful. They need also to be able to pick a good team of people around them who will do a lot of the hard work. I have no doubt that Keith was a hard worker and a good coach but he hadn't the ability to inspire anyone or make people believe that things could get better.

Unfortunately for you and your views a manager does need to be a good talker a bit of a character like Holloway, Redknapp or Allen. They attract a bit of attention to the club and creat a bit of a buzz. Johnson had that knack as well.

I too would love O'neil or Mark Hughes but the reality is neither would come to us.

Id be happy with a SOD or Davies. Not too keen on Jones, he spent quite a bit of money at Cardiff and didnt do the business, despite having one of the best squads. Davies is my first choice. But in dreamland when Im given 2 billion quid by my secret father (sorry dad) and I buy Bristol City I would aim for O,Neil or Mark Hughes.

Obviously would luv someone like Oneil or Curbs but it aint going to happen.

I voted Davies but would be happy with jones also :fingerscrossed:

Is this who we'd like or who we expect?

Can't see past O'Neil for who I'd like, but it's got a 0% chance of happening

I'd take any of Jones, Davies or McClaren, although I think Jones is the only likely one of those.

Who we would like.

Zola odds only plummeting due to this poll being poured over by the lazy journos!

I cannot explain McInnes though who, looking at his record, would be a surprise but potentially inspired choice.

Tisdale for me. Young, hungry, successful and on an upwards curb. Ticks the boxes in my opinion...

young and hungry yes. successful perhaps in the past tense. i am sure his star will shine again but this might be a step too far for him this time. he is too young to turn these players around in my view.

St.Johnstone fan here on Del McInnes .. There has been some talk here about Del getting the job. Our chairman, Geoff Brown ( longest serving chairman in scottish football with 25 years service at Saints) has been quoted as saying he will not stand in Dels way should there be an approach as long as adequate compo can be agreed. He is a pretty straight up chairman and indeed was exactly the same when Burnley came in for Owen Coyle. I would hate to lose McInnes as he is doing an outstanding job at Saints but these things happen and should you end up with him in charge I am sure he will do a great job.

This season Saints sit joint fourth in the SPL, which for a team with average attendances of just over 3200 and a tiny budget is remarkable. We have already beaten Celtic (1-0) away, Motherwell (3-0) away, Hearts (2-0) at home and indeed went through our first 4 away games without even conceeding a goal.

Whether Del would take the job ( if offered) is another story. He seems to have been linked with every job that has come up in the last 12 months including West Brom and more recently Brentford but he is still here and with no disrepect, I don't know how attractive the Bristol City job would be to him. In my ignorance , I know very little about your club apart from you play at Ashton Gate and that David James went there. What are the clubs finances like?

I see you are at the foot of the Championship at the moment but the last few years the club seems to have been steady in mid table ( Statto.com) What's gone wrong this term??

Hello all, I'm new on here but wanted to register an opinion....I've voted for Billy Davies, I wouldn't mind Dave Jones either but one name that I think should be on the list but isn't is Joe Jordan...if he could be persuaded to leave spurs he'd be gret for the club in both the short and the long term...anybody agree?

Dave Jones has has been my first choice but like many others I am being persuaded towards McInnes.

Not sure Big Joe would want a third spell in the hot seat, but he'd make an ideal experienced assistant to a young Scottish manager finding his feet in the Championship.yes.gif

Yep, another vote for McInnes. The more I read about him the more impressed I am.

Reading some of the saintees comments he looks good unearthing unknowns & turning them into good players so the board will be happy!

Sounds like he plays attacking football too!

Del Boy is coming up on the blind side.

Very happy to see a few, on reflection, have pulled their votes from Robins and SOD.

Perhaps this guy has been City's numero uno target all along and they asked Saints boss to leak the story... nargh perhaps not then.

I'd only be voting for myself! :icecream:

Come on, i'm gonna make them all drive Vauxhall Novas and scrub the seats in the stadium, oh and they have to give half their wages to local charities.

How can anyone vote for Mcinnes over someone like Martin O'Neill, I don't understand... I know we won't get O'Neill but he's the best manager on that list...

O'Neill is a completely wasted vote as not a realistic option for us.

Waste vote? You do know you are not actually voting a manager in don't you? This 'bit of fun' is who do you want as your next manager. How could any vote be wasted?!

Well if the final five are as quoted I hope the club go from strengh to strengh but as they are all beyond description I see myself as a armchair supporter for the forseeable. Oh dear whatever happened to imagination and foresight.

What facts are known?

I'm not sure if I have heard or read one actual fact as to the actual applicants. I am not talking about 'the Evening Post understands', type of thing, I mean actual facts.

I am having problems sifting through the hearsay and working out what is fact anymore.

Who has definitely applied?

As I am in 6th place, I can confirm that when they said 5 or 6, it was me! :innocent06:

Yes and i have been advised by my great aunt Millie (deceased) that Dolly was interviewed from the shortlist of 6th but unfortunately did not make the final cut. Apparently, her request to maintain a single changing room and bath tub were turned down.

All I can say Dolly is this; thank heavens for pheromones.

Derek Mcinnes for me. Everything I have read about him sounds good including the glowing recommendation from Owen Coyle.

Big Joe back at the gate. His second spell was not the greatest but not sure it was his fault. Think he still lives has a place in Bristol as well.

Will always remember Big Joe for his first spell in charge and try to forget (as will he having read his auto biography)that he left us to go to Hearts.
