boadle Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Hypothetical situation. Do you choose a manager who preaches attractive, passing football, but does not have a track record of avoiding relegation, or one who utilises a physical, no-nonsense approach to get results, and is a proven escape-artist?
Guest Brislingwood Red Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 The latter, then bomb him out at the end of the season and employ the former.
Bar BS3 Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Football is ultimitely a results business. A different way of looking at this question would be... Would you rather we could change places with WIGAN, a decent footballing side with a bright young manager who likes to play the beautifull game, but who will struggle this season, next season until they are eventually relegated. OR Stoke, with their Asshole manager, playing a much more direct style (although it is a myth that they don't also play some decent football) who are usually hard to beat, constantly causing upsets amongst the top 6, likely to finish top half of the Prem AGAIN and also adapting well to their first season back in european football? My chioce would be Stoke, all day long!
