Admin Maesknoll Red Posted October 27, 2003 Admin Report Share Posted October 27, 2003 Referee: Peter Walton - Northants. Asst: Paul Merlin - Surrey Asst: Kevin Pike - Dorset Peter Walton has already a place in Citys history books, the game at West Brom. in which he played over eight minutes of injury time, with West Brom scoring right at the end of it. That was the match that really brought it home that we were going down, with the added misfortune of Mickey Bell breaking his leg and Ivan Testimetanu suffering cruciate ligament damage, after which he never seemed the same player. Followed by a 4-4 at Notts County and the highlight of last season, the trip to the LDV final. Referee Walton officiated at his first Premier League game last Saturday, not just any match, Wolves coming from 3-0 down to win 4-3. 1998/1999 Games 32 Yellow (99) Red (8) West Brom. 2 v 2 City(2) Booked: Brennan. Top Corner
West Brom away - ah happy memories After the riduculous amount of injury time, what with the trouble at half time causing the 2nd half to be delayed, didn't West Brom equalise some where around about ten past five. One as those games which sticks long in the memory unfortunately. As you say after they equalised so late, you just knew the odds were going to be stacked against us in our battle to get out of the relegation dogfight that season. As I seem to remember didn't the ref signal about 5-6 minutes of stoppage time and then play a further minute or two after that for no apparent reason. Stuck in my mind that Walton was cr@p that day and nothing since has changed my mind since, not that I hold grudges or anything.
