Kingswood Robin
This may have been mentioned before but I was looking through some football stats the other day and in particular play-off stats (okay stick with it). The attendance for our match against Hull was the highest ever for a play-off match. If you class play-offs as league matches (which I do) then it's also the highest official attendance for a league match ever in England. A play-off stat where we haven't been beaten! Nice, but how can it be a league match when the result doesn't affect the league table?
Kingswood Robin
Nice, but how can it be a league match when the result doesn't affect the league table? Don't spoil it! The result influences the shape of the league the following season, and it's is called the fooball league play-off final. Looks like a league match, sounds like a league, it must be a league match. Big Stan Hibbert
Didn't Huddersfield only break the unbeaten record because play offs are NOT classed as league matches?? Sorry mate
Kingswood Robin
Great, now someone tells me. I wouldn't have felt so bad walking away from those matches against Walsall, Brentford, Cardiff, Brighton and Hull if I'd have known they were just friendlies! We've got to take the honours here or it's Man United again, who wants that?
Bar BS3
I have always thought that Play-off games should be classed as "bonus" league games for the clubs that "qualify" for them. The fact that Huddersfields record sandwiches itself around a good old thumping in arguably the biggest game of a "league" season is a bit of a joke. Ironic that their cup defeat at Swindon a couple of weeks ago was also a hammering, although quite rightly not effecting their "league record"
Ron
Peter Whittingham won the golden boot in 2009/10 because of goals scored in the play-offs, did he not?
Kingswood Robin
Imagine us claiming a 40 odd game unbeaten record if that Brighton play-off game was in the middle of it. I'd struggle to justify it.
