Blame Lies With Lib Dem Council

The TG fiasco lies at the door of the Lib Dem run council. They did NOT have to refer the land to a Town Green inspector in the first place. I shall repeat this to make is totally clear that they was not under any obligation to refer this to a town green report.

The council appointed an inspector who in every

case reported in favour of a town green . Let me again make this clear the council appointed the inspector.

What the council did not take into account was the strength of feeling in Bristol at the council negative attitude to sport and development in City and the stadium issue became a lighting rod of anti lib dem council back lash and in the last few months the council have been back tracking and trying to spin themselves out of the mess we are in.

So what can be done?

Vote tactically to get rid of you local lib dem councillor and also VoteYES for a City Mayor so we can in future who a person responsible for decisions.

This would be the council who approved the supermarket over the objections of their own officers and the council who voted to approve the stadium, against the advice of the inspector.

They are consistently behind the whole project, so how you can call them "anti-sport" or "anti-development" I don't know.

Vote against the Lib Dems by all means, but do so on policy grounds, not on some misguided belief that the council has nixed AV.

Bear in mind, that it's a Tory who is leading Long Ashton's Nimbys too.

Hasn't Primarolo been supportive and even brought up the issue of misuse of the TVG regulations, in Parliament?

There has been huge cross party support for the stadium, in fact I emailed all my local councillors and asked them for their views on the matter without giving away my feelings.

The Conservative (blah, blah) was right behind the stadium and had written many letters to the ruling cabinet, the Lib Dem was behind it and the Labour candidate was behind it although she did try to sit on the fence and tried to cover herself just in case I was against it.

Red Dawn is standing down at the next election.

What about "Honest" Dr Liam Fox as our elected Mayor. Lord help us :surrender:

As long as he doesn't try to make his bf deputy mayor!

TBH as has been said, it's wrong to try to make this party political. there are politicians of all colours (except Green) for the stadium and ditto against.

If they didn't appoint one, then the Nimbys would have used that angle for a case for a JR. They really couldn't win.

If there was no town green inspector there would have been no JR so that is really a mute point.

The JR is really about the council ignoring the outcome of the TG report .

It's is only now we have unqualified support from the Lib Dems because as it been shown time and time again that they are politcal whores and opportunist and they can see which way the wind is blowing on this one.

No, if there was no town green inspector the nimbys would have used this as point to raise a JR - i.e. the evidence wasn't tested in front of one.

I don't really blame anyone in particular for the TVG farce, lets not forget the club and us as supporters all laughed at it when it was first muted. We didn't take it seriously enough and paid the consequences.

You are just speculating that if they was no TG report they would of been a JR . JR reviews are not granted willy nilly . I think you are wrong to make this assumption and the council was wrong to grant a TG report, all it as done is give the opponents of the scheme an open goal .

Sorry you are wrong the council and local MP's are fully behind it,

The only reason there is a JR is because of the wrong bit of land shown on a map at the meeting and the fact the nimbys don't want any devlopment there is nothing the council can do they are caught in the middle and the tax payers in Bristol are paying for it,

Yes they are behind it now. If they would of shown this level of support from the beginning this stadium would have nearly been built.

This is a FACT please take note FACT , the council was under no obligation to grant a town green report, they could of just granted planning premission . The opponents could have tried for a JR but without the backing of a Town Green report it would have been a lot more differcult.

No more than you speculating that they wouldn't.

I think that employing the independent vg specialist ross crail was an own goal. If the council researched her then it wouldnt be rocket science to work out what the outcome of her independent research might be.

Absolutely.

No-one has ever adequately explained why it was her who was appointed.

On matters like this she's about as "neutral" as Alex Ferguson would be reffing Man U.....
