The Family Club

I have noticed that after being destroyed on the field of play, totally outsung off the pitch the Gas are trying to divert attention to what they call 'our scum fans' who tried to attack members of the 'family club'. I would like to present my version of what I saw today. I was by the park for half hour before kick off and a number of Gas fans came by wearing blue and white colours. Those fans were given some stick and a bit banter but that was it. It was all jokey and no problems at all. Then about fifteen minutes before kick off a group of gasheads got off a bus by the park and started abusing City fans and thinking they could take on the world. The aforementioned delusional soles were then chased across the park.

Inside the stadium, the family club's supporters fought a battle with the police as the game kicked off, presumably in an attempt to attack the City fans. Throughout the ninety minutes I didn't see a single City fan cause any problems at all.

In summary, however the Gas try to paint it - excellent day for the Robins and woeful day for the blue few.

Unfortunately every team has an "element" of undesirables, and I'm sure that the idiots who got off the bus had built up some Dutch courage in town beforehand. Did hear that something was thrown from the Williams, which sparked off the trouble - but who knows, most of it is Chinese whispers. I'm sure the EP will tell us the truth. :bored:

On the alternative Rovers forum they actually seem to like the idea of their "Youth" getting a bit of a drubbing, as they think they're a bunch of idiots!

They are a joke, giving it the big un about mobbing up in old Market and getting taxis to the lions etc!

Over 200 City at Old Market early doors but The Scruffs not interested, then that pathetic effort in the Park.........it's boring, it's tedious just give it a rest now you are a joke Rovers!

They probably thought "if not now, when?" (low crowd, City not bothered, spring a surprise)

So it's "never" then !

Anyone think this could be an annual fixture? Would you want it to be?

An annual mocking of the blue few sounds good but after a while, playing them just wouldnt be an interest.

As they are so far behind us, in order to keep the rivalry alive, playing them needs to a once in a while treat.

Its like when you went to macdonalds as a kid. Your parents would take you once in a blue moon as a treat. You looked forward to it and enjoyed it. You get a bit older and start popping in for the convenience and the treat eliment lessens. Then you realise its actually sh1t3 and theres no point going anymore.

This is what will happen. In 10 yrs time the gate would be 3k max because they wouldnt be able to put up a fight each year.

I would like to see us play them at the Minimal next August. When we have beaten them home and away then we can give them a few seasons to catch up like they believe they will with their new ground. In my thirty years of watching derbies, this is the biggest gap between the clubs. Rovers don't need just a new ground, they need a billionaire to turn that club around.

Gas r Cleary struggling at moment.

Football doesn't change much over the years , the gas yoyo betwenn league 1 and league 2 whilst in recent times we yoyo betwenn championship n league 1. I don't see the next 20being much different bar the odd exception

That is not true, it has only been in the last decade that Rovers have dropped to the fourth tier. City have been the top dogs for the majority of the time, that bit is right. I think we can be more than a Championship-league one yo yo club and should target the Premeirship.

Sorry I meant just recently , gas have been in the championship in the past and of course ourselves in the equivilant of the prem!

Hopef we will make it there again soon altho any sane betting man wud predict the gas gettin promoted to league one before predicting us to reach the prem! Hope city can prove me wrong tho . Coyr

Agree with you Sglos. Mystery coach tour from WSM perhaps? Got to the game just before kick off to see a bunch of lads (no more than 20) being shepherded out of the Park by OB. Post match a similar sized group were herded over Cumberland Basin and up Hotwells. Assume they were Gas (hence the escort) but it was hardly Millwall. Still, at least they can tell their Grandchildren they took the East End today ;-). Utterly tiresome when you look at the marvellous sporting events elsewhere tonite.
