I like many other on here thought he was total pants based on last seasons poor performances and I must admit, after Tuesday I still thought he may have put in a one-off decent appearance... well after today I have to eat humble-pie and salute the guy... Loads of credit has to go to Cunningham to, his overlapping and forward runs frees up plenty of space for Woolford to work in. It seemed odd that one teams star player in the same league who had a reputation as a goal scoring midfielder could suddenly look so far out of his depth. Sure confidence has a lot to do with it. BCFC Jordan Posted August 25, 2012 Report Share Posted August 25, 2012 His good relationship with Stead off the pitch is genuinely a huge factor imo, they seem to know each others game very well, and with them being two intelligent players that'll always result in goals. A great left back behind him in Cunningham is also a factor, and I think Cunningham did just about deserve MoTM today, it's refreshing to see a comfortable left back at long last, and he's only 21! Cunningham and Woolford seem to be working a good partnership on the left already! Who would of thought it 3 games in and Woolford is our top scorer fair play to Wooly. Some of us said even before his recent revival that there always seemed to be a good player in there somewhere trying to get out. It's very gratifying to see him start to come good at last. It's a combination of all the various factors people have mentioned. Cunningham has helped him a lot and was excellent again today. As many have noted, Woolford's confidence tends to be fragile and fans getting off his back and giving him a bit of recognition and encouragement has also helped in that regard. But above all I would say huge credit has to go to the manager for not only seeing that the guy has ability, but also using his man management skills to build Woolford's self-belief and get the best out of him. There's been endless talk since God knows when about this mythical, creative, attacking midfield player who's going to spray killer passes around and score goals himself. It would take Paul Gascoigne in his prime to fulfill some people's unrealistic fantasies and expectations, but had it occurred to anyone until very recently that we already had in our midst an attack-minded midfielder with an eye for goal and a decent scoring record to his name before joing us? McInnes's unlikely decision to include Woolford in his starting line-up in pre-season was questioned by many. It's looking like a very shrewd judgement now. Looks like a real threat, and joint 2nd top goalscorer in the league is great for him and us. Looks like he has a decent finish on him too.
