Welcome To The Jungle
It has long been my belief that every midfield there must be a ball winner. If not the midfield will be lightweight and walked over. Too many times Leeds got the ball from the back to their forwards way to easily, as our midfield defencively, wasn't there. Kilkenny actually played okay today for me. Fairly good passing and was tidy. However he has no physical presence like Pearson, so their midfield found it easy to waltz through us (see third goal and the lack of pressure). All the best teams in the world from Song/Macherano at Barca, Sami Khadira at Madrid, Parker for Spurs, Fletcher/carrick at Utd, Barry (and others) and man city etc etc etc. The spine of the team must be strong, and if we can't get a centre half, play elliott at least till skusey is back. wayne allisons tongues
We miss cisse in midfield, there's no one to cover the back 4.
Carey 6
We miss cisse in midfield, there's no one to cover the back 4. Cisse made us very defensive but as you said, improved a poor defence. Fontaine and Wilson are useless! Foster did ok at right back defending wise and a great cross. but can that man pass his percentage passing wise today must have been very low? IMO we need to sign 2 central defenders not just 1. That's the job mcinnes has to do, balance defensive with attacking. Seems we've gone from one to the other and not found a happy medium.
