Midfield Solutions

Many identify the midfield as playing a major part in our defensive problems. Within the current squad what are the solutions?

Now Elliot is back I'd play him in front of the back four with a purely defensive remit and play Kilkenny in front of him with a more offensive role. Surely that way we're playing our best defensive midfielder and most creative offensive one?

Any other offers?

Why should that suddenly work?, we do not have the solution within our current squad of players.

.................................Heaton

..................Nyatanga.............McManus................

Foster...........................................................Bryan

.................................Elliot....................................

....Adomah................................................Anderson

................Taylor.......................Davies

...............................Baldock................................

Elliot can break up play.... Taylor can dominate and win balls in the air, Davies has shown he can tackle. Anderson and Adomah have pace. Leaves a more relaxed back four.

MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Shall we just give up then? What's to lose?

We've tried every single combination of everything we have at our disposal over 4/5 seasons and especially this season and they have all failed miserably. it is not as if this problem has occurred overnight, it has been our achilles heel now for 4/5 years, but for some bizarre reason 3 successive managers seem to believe either that our central midfield is OK or will suddenly become OK.

Midfield 3. Not ideal but the only solution.

Just like last season then! The club has not learned from last season. Poor work in the transfer market, which divides opinion alot. Seems like we will have to wait for the right player I guess. Of course we all like spending money waiting don't we :)

Tinker away with the formations and personnel as much as you like. The truth is that there are a lot of players that are just not good enough. Sadly, some of Derek's signings have not lived up to the mark - would happily see the likes of M Wilson and Foster never wear a City shirt again. Far from improving the squad they have added to its mediocrity....

Though it does mean dropping one of our stronger players to accomodate a 3rd weaker one.

Yep. Only thing I can think of is .....

Skuse.......Kilkenny......Pearson

Adomah..............................Davies

..................Baldock/Taylor................

With Davies floating. JUST A THOUGHT!
