Now Elliot is back I'd play him in front of the back four with a purely defensive remit and play Kilkenny in front of him with a more offensive role. We've tried every single combination of everything we have at our disposal over 4/5 seasons and especially this season and they have all failed miserably. it is not as if this problem has occurred overnight, it has been our achilles heel now for 4/5 years, but for some bizarre reason 3 successive managers seem to believe either that our central midfield is OK or will suddenly become OK. Nothing's to lose and we may as well try things but ultimately he's right - we will struggle until we can strengthen the midfield and, whilst I accept financial constraints make that difficult, I think that is a reality. Poor work in the transfer market, which divides opinion alot. Seems like we will have to wait for the right player I guess. The truth is that there are a lot of players that are just not good enough. Sadly, some of Derek's signings have not lived up to the mark - would happily see the likes of M Wilson and Foster never wear a City shirt again.
