A player recruitment analyst wouldn't necessarily need to be a good judge of a player. He could collate and analyze statistics and contract information and that would be very useful.

I see no reason why he shouldn't be involved in player recruitment just because he doesn't have a professional playing background. Maybe we're actually adopting a bit of a scientific approach to something for once.
