downendcity
Lots and lots of paranoia on this thread. Oh and one idiot.
Pickle Rick
It's the same with a lot of the national press. Looking through the Sunday football supplement most of them have you often have to look very hard to find the report on City's game and it's usually a very small item compared with the copious details of most other games. I think it reflects the fact that in the football world we are a small club compared with the majority of teams we are up against. We don't have an illustrious history. We haven't been in the premier league. We don't have a celebrity manager. We don't have any big name players. We are not a hotbed of football. We are not a sleeping giant ( we might think we are, but not like Forest, Derby etc - see points 1 & 2 above) We are not the proverbial fairy tale club punching above our weight, even though we are not classed as a big club. I am sure that all these factors also contribute to the reason why we find it difficult to attract the right players and why we probably have to pay over the odds to get players of the quality we want and need. You sure about that? Do we really pay high wages in this division? I thought that is part reason of us not getting our 'targets' a lot of the time. I see what you're saying with the rest of your post though.
CodeRed
Sky are completely fixated by the Premier League - the product that drives their revenue. When they cover the championship it's all PL related in their comments, match choices, & the angle of their coverage . as in: They focus on teams .....who have just come down from the PL, managers............... who have managed in the PL, and teams ..............who are about to go up into the PL When (ex PL) Newcastle went down they were on virtually every week, similarly West Ham (ex PL AND ex PL manager), and who can forget "Roy Keans Ipswich" (do they ever mention them since he left) When we were top of the Championship & possibly looking to go up Gary was on Sky all the time as sumariser and on the Sunday morning show. Del has no PL pedigree or profile, we are nowhere near the PL pay offs, we don't exist on their radar.
