Interesting to see him ref a game between of the 2 bottom 3 teams in the Championship one week to being the ref in the match including the champions of England the next week. I think more Premier League refs should be given some Championship games, perhaps those refs that don't get a game in the Premier League. Some Premier League experience could help in certain situations at this level. Oh and by the way I'm not saying the refs in the Championship at the moment are bad, just some Premier League refs would be good to see.

Howard Webb was in charge of Hull - Huddersfield today. Don't know if that signals a trend, would need to look into it more, but it may be that there is one per week? Perhaps we just don't notice it 'cos it's not often for our games (which, if it's just one ref per week, would be understandable).

Can't see him listed on any of the games today...?

But, in response to OP, it seems that every Premier League referee, except Chris Foy and Mark Clattenburg, has taken charge of at least 1 game in the Championship this season.

Most have done 2, with Webb being the only one to take just the 1 (today). Jonathan Moss and Neil Swarbrick (4 each), Mark Halsey (5) and Roger East (9) have done the most. East has actually taken charge of more Championship games than Premier League (4) this season.

Suffice to say, it seems that there are Premier League refs in the Championship relatively often - 43 games so far overall, about 2 per round of games.

Oh, and City have had 3 of them, all games resulting in wins: 4-2 v Cardiff (Mike Jones), 3-1 v Middlesbrough (Neil Swarbrick) and 3-2 v Wednesday (Marriner).

We've won all 3 of them? Well there is our answer to us being so poor! Championship refs! I always thought the Football League doesn't like us... :D
