Several times that chose to ignore free travel for the delights of British Rail. It was because a previous game, think it was West Brom away, had been called off last minute, with thousands of City fans having travelled up, so City made the gesture of free travel to the next away game. My memories are a 90th minute 1-0 winner from a QPR forward called Viv Busby, and immediate pandenomium outside as City fans tried to get at QPR. As was the way of the world back then, if your team didn't perform on the pitch, honour was regained off it. Remember a dustbin being chucked through a cafe window and as you say a right bust up think it was called the School end /South Africa Road where the away fans were put. No roof at the time jam packed once the goal went in the atmosphere changed every nutter in the West Country seemed to be there a mad scramble for the exits and it was like a wild west bust up.
