Match started and straight away you could see we had no width on either flank and with playing a 5-2-1-2 formation that's no surprise. 1st goal was bad ball by Wilson trying to play a bit forward but how can Danny Murphy walk 30 yds through our midfield unchallenged to shoot. Ball did move for goal in air but heaton should of done better. So 1 down thinking where is our width coming from and it was from m Wilson and Cunningham all 1st half which meant Blackburn had so much space it was ridiculous. Second half formation stayed the same even when 2 down till Reid came on and went 442 but by then was to late and we never really had anyone on the left. Why swap woolford for Cunningham and put him at lb, Players who did well heaton some great saves to keep us in it just Shane about the 1st goal. Skuse tried hard but never played a killer ball always sideways and backwards but some great challenges. Carey battled all match and held the line well some great challenges and at times 2nd half was as if he was captain remonstrating with players and organizing at set pieces. Fontaine looked steady 2 great clearances first half and think playing in a 3 helped him for was able to not mark as much. J Wilson looked accomplished did nothing outstanding but also nothing terrible. Stead and Taylor worked there socks off up front but with no width held it up and never had an outball. Only time first half we got width from Cunningham Taylor made keeper work. Anderson worked hard tried to be creative but never an outball for him in middle of park. Not good games Cunningham never really knew where he was supposed to be summed up by 2nd goal when getting out of box was out of position and never looked to win header for there 2nd. M Wilson defensively sound but isn't an attacking fb and looked lost trying to play further forward. Pearson did ok but with everything down middle was only player to try to play it wide but was never anyone out there whilst he had ball. So he shouldn't of kept playing ball into the channels. Mcinnes what he was doing playing the formation he did I do not know but when you've no width or get our balls you are going to be on the back foot all the time shock we were. WellRedPhil Posted January 5, 2013 Report Share Posted January 5, 2013 Mark Wilson was unsurprisingly shit at wing-back, baring in mind how un-athletic he is to play him there is absurd. He was poor. I also thought Fonts looked reasonably solid for much of the game but the last 20 mins when we looked very out of our depth he seemed to get worse. Worryingly Cunningham was awful and it looks as if the rest of them are dragging him down with them. And as for Pearson he was dreadful, absolutely dreadful. Yet another game where we create nothing and never look like doing anything other than losing for the entire match. Well done City. Well done Derek.
