tezOfCity
Me and a few mates are debating booking a hotel room and having a big night out in Cardiff the day city play Malaysia FC. The main point of debate is the general safety of sounding all gert bristolian in the city centre on a saturday night after city v malaysia. Anyone any experience of this or perhaps thinking of doing the same? Few questions aswell. 1) will there be an escort into legoland? can this be avoided by not looking like a football fan perhaps? 2) can we take alcohol on the train 3)Best station to get off at? 4) I have a camel back, (like a backpack with a bladder and a straw) i would like to fill sed camelback with some nice cool natch, then take it into legoland, what are my chances of getting it in. Bearing in mind its not a bottle, nor does it resemble a water bomb or anything obviosly contraband, its actually rather discreet and i could slip it on under my jumper, provided im not frisked. Cheers for any and all answers given, im sure we'll take a few to cardiff this year so im well and truly buzzin my tits off COYR!!!
Cider army1981
I've had many nights out in Cardiff including 2 England away games. Never had any bother.. Like any city in the country tho there is a chance. But as long as your not a complete idiot you won't have any football related trouble in the evening. BS4 on Tour...
Cardiff is usually a top night out - only had one sort of bad experience when one of my mates requested a Wurzels songs in a night club - the DJ announced through his mic that "I'm not gonna play it but you may be interested to know that the group of lads over there (points at us) just requested The Wurzels...." Every head turned to stare at us and we had to make a sharp exit as people were falling over themselves to get at us. But, as a post above said, if you keep your head down you'll have a good night out in Cardiff
RobArnold10
Yeah dont advertise where youre from and nobody will bat an eyelid. Its very student based so theres a good mix of our side of the bridge with theirs. Live Lounge is always a good shout of venue. Cheapish, good drink too. Admin phantom Posted January 30, 2013 Admin Report Share Posted January 30, 2013 2) can we take alcohol on the train 3)Best station to get off at?Yes, you can take anything you want on the train, it is a local service (unless you are travelling from Parkway, so there is no bar on board - and expect it to be standing room onlyIf you are staying over, Cardiff Central will be your best bet
chalky
My mate (non city fan) has invited a load of us to join his birthday night in on Cardiff on the same night! 20 of them going - told them they may find it difficult to get into places, not sure if I be joining them yet! Spike
The only problem with Cardiff is depending where you go you can get a lot of idiots just looking for a fight regardless of whether you're living or even from Cardiff so when you add football fans from Bristol it's pot luck on who is out for the night. If you go out on a Saturday it shouldn't make much of a difference to be honest so long as you stick to the main clubs.

bluey23
http://www.wonkosworld.co.uk/wordpress/2013/01/10/man-beaten-to-within-5-of-his-life-in-wales-for-being-english/ Yeah remember reading that, was posted on our board, the Daily Mail got hold of it and it's quite easy to twist the story however you like. I really doubt it was because he was English, drink, idiots and queuing for taxis orderly dont usually mix well. Drunken muppets out in every city centre, you really don't need to be English to get caught up in something, I'm sure we have all seen more than enough fights on night outs. Plenty of English people here, i'm friends with a couple who have never had any problems, it's a multicultural city where the vast majority wont even care where you are from, and decent proportion of any fights on a night out here are more likely to be Cardiff lads against valley lads to be honest. For the football the closest stations are Grangetown (10-15mins walk) or Ninian Park (5 mins walk). Enjoy, hopefully be a good match anyway. Bristolface
Im staying over for the night, only trouble I ever had was at a MOD night in Dempseys I was a young 16yr old and wore my union jack shirt over for the night of music, was going very well untill a few bluebirds turned up, and saying she is your Queen as well didnt go down well, but having a load of Skin head mates also in the building made sure my head stayed on my shoulders all night.
