My View From Last Few Days.

Well, well, well.... what a difference Sean O'Driscoll has made so far.

Here are my two reports of the last few days’ events.

Last Gasp Stead send's Ashton Gate into raptures, as Bristol City picked up a last gasp win in what was a reasonably decent game.

It was Daryl Murphy who scored first for the visitors despite the fact he looked a tad offside; the blame had to be shifted onto Liam Fontaine as he slipped and hesitated allowing Murphy to pounce and slot the ball past Tom Heaton into the bottom left corner in front of the Atyeo stand.

Ryan Taylor was taken off after displaying some large discomfort to his collar bone which has been confirmed as a fractured.

His replacement, Steven Davies, was the man who equalised for city straight after half time. Paul Anderson picked the ball up and after some scintillating wing play he slotted the ball through to the advancing Davies who fired the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

The large remainder of the second half was end to end with City having the home advantage and it showed in the possession stat.

Courtesy of BBC SPORT - City 52% - 48% Ipswich.

I had a feeling one team would win the game and that proved to be the case and in the last few seconds of the game Steven Davies headed the ball through to Jon Stead who had looked to missed the chance before staying composed and firing into the bottom corner.

The scenes at Ashton Gate were jubilant having won this vital encounter.

Next up at Ashton Gate was a game against a Watford team looking to further their form in very wet slippery conditions.

Watford looked a very composed, passing, strong and speedy team which reflects there league position.

However I believe the Manager Gianfranco Zola rested his key players Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra.

The game was a very feisty encounter, this showed as Cole Skuse was substituted for Marvin Elliot after failing to recover from a heavy challenge in the 26th minute however its worth pointing out Fitz Hall's challenge that later stopped Paul Anderson from advancing as it was an example of how a tackle should be done.

Still, Fernando Foresteiri looked like the next Diego Maradona but was unable to steer Watford from a defeat at Ashton Gate and shortly before half time in a dogged clash Greg Cunningham's attempt of a cross ended up skidding off the extremely wet surface in the far corner which was met with a fairly comical, disbelieving celebration.

The half time whistle was greeted with raptures of applause and encouragement.

The second half was similar to the first half a very dogged affair, in particular Jonathan Hogg who looked as tough and fired up as anyone out on the pitch.

John Eustace also committed a challenge on Marvin Elliot looked as if it should have been a red card given that it was out of control and dangerous but was only given a yellow card much to the dismay of the home faithful.

Despite Watford bringing on Troy Deeney and Matej Vydra they only briefly looked more dangerous and it was Bristol City who doubled their lead and after Marvin Elliot headed on from a corner the advancing Paul Anderson smashed along the floor into the bottom of the net.

With Watford looking more and more dangerous City had to defend for their lives in the final ten minutes; and that they did also achieving the first illusive clean sheet of the season which completes the stat that all 92 football league teams have now kept a clean sheet.

Two win's out of two for S'oD army then, is it a honeymoon period or is this a new improved way of play we will be seeing down at Ashton Gate with more committed, disciplined, organised and positive displays?
