The Old Guard

Well, as a counter argument SOD's post match comments told a different story really, he said the players have been telling him from day 1, that they felt that all they needed was organisation

Funnily enough that's the exact same thing I'd say if I was underperforming at work too and a new senior bod walked in.

Here we go again, people want rid of Carey due to his age and dispite him still being out best centre half and a player who's not let us down. Not his fault no previous manager has been capable of finding a better right sided centre half to take his place long term, based on his form this season another contract is likely a given.

Yet people are backing the Lilly livered scum bags at this club like Marv, Pearson, Fontaine who have been a discrace all season upto the last few weeks. Those players have treated managers with contempt with inept performances turning up when it's contract renewal time and impressing for a new manager. Seems fans are just as stupid with their backing.

Here we go again, people actually want to keep a veteran player, well past his sell by date, who's barely completed 20 games in each of the last 3 seasons.

Based on his appearance record yet another new contract would be laughable. SO'D will be looking for a much younger, less injury prone, more reliable and hopefully better replacement who he can count on to play in the majority of games, and it will focus his mind appropriately to make this the priority it should have been for several seasons if Carey is not kept in the wings.

The arrival of McFadzean or similar in the Summer will surely confirm the long overdue clean break for LC and Bristol City .

While I don't agree with labelling Pearson or Fontaine 'lilly livered scum bags' I would have to accept that they have given peformances at times this season that have made them look as much.

But Marvin Elliott?! Sorry?

Now if you don't think Marv can ever replicate his form from when he first arrived, that injuries have ruined him or that plain and simply he isn't good enough then fair enough. But to accuse him of being 'lilly livered' or a 'scum bag' is disgraceful.

He has given everything that he possibly can (or that his body has allowed him to) every single time he has stepped on the pitch in a City shirt. We as fans should appreciate characters like Marv and frankly you should be ashamed of a personal attack of this nature on a player that has never once shirked a challenge in his years of being at this club.
