Heya,

Does anyone do any (or experience of) any martial arts/MMA in Bristol ?

I need to get fit and to be honest I am finding the gym damned boring - I heard that a lot of martial art classes now offer fitness training within the discipline. I don't really want a contact class (though the option in the future if I enjoy the classes would be nice) but I need to start looking after myself more, and rowing machines, weight machines and pounding the treadmill is just boring the hell out of me.

Thanks in advance for any ideas / experience.

I was trying to get fit a few years ago and a friend suggested that I buy a Jane Fonda video.

I sat through On Golden Pond five times and it never made any difference to me....

So losing weight a teaspoonful at a time does not work............

Why don't you pay £100's of pounds on a fitness dvd set that only works if you are already 'fit' or are 5ft 2, Blue Hair, weigh exactly 10 stone and have a moustache

If you go to a local leisure centre I'm sure they could tell you a place that specialises in what your after

If I just wanted a name of places i could look it up on the internet, I was hoping for something more insightful - different schools/dojos give off a different feel, atmosphere, so word of mouth is a good way to narrow them down - unfortunately been many years since I have been to one, and no one I know goes either.........

Like the idea for the DVD's though - I am sure I saw a course for only £40 pm from some guy called Tony Robins

I wouldn't do karate; boring is not the word.

Judo was quite fun, MMA looks quite good.

I have found a kickboxing school quite close and heard some good things about the instructors, atmosphere etc so will be giving them a go at the end of the month - only down side is they wear red satin trousers........ fashionistas to the front !!!!!!!
