Martyn Hocking
Those of you keen for a change of manager might like to comment on the sacking of Ian Holloway by our friends at the Mem. Like Danny, Ian was perceived by Rovers fans to be a manager who had 'taken the club as far as he could', and more particularly as the manager who snatched defeat from the jaws of victory when they fell from Top Spot to 7th in the closing weeks of the season before he was sacked. Where is Ian now, and where are Rovers? His replacement by a manager who supposedly had more experience of getting teams from the lower leagues promoted was a disaster, and the hollow headed one is now one of the most widely quoted, and highly rated managers in the country. Guest Huddersfield Red
Is Mr Graydome available? We could add him to the list of candidates somewhere above Glenn Roeder and below Wally Downes
Bow_Legged_Chicken
Yes your right cider red and not only that he had to juggle that along with selling all his best players that he brought in and having to replace them, there is only so long a manager can continue to replace his best players and holloway was pushed to the limit. Whereas with Wilson not only does he keep 99% of his best players he gets the chance to bring in even better ones. Two completely different situations and even after what happened to Rovers if we were down near the bottom of Div 2 i hope Wilson would be sacked!! We need a motivator someone who can come in and get the best out of our players. Our squad could walk this league, its superb in my eyes. Its a matter of getting the best out of our players 99% of the time and thats all part of the managers job.
bucksred
Whereas with Wilson not only does he keep 99% of his best players he gets the chance to bring in even better ones. The definition of wilsons "best" players and "keeping" his best players and bringing in "better" ones is subject to considerable discussion.. Point taken about Hollowhead- the difference is that he was forced to sell good players, a number of Wilsons buys have proved somewhat er underwhelming!1 And Hollowhead is a far better tactician than Wilson too...hate to say it, but its true!!
