Was in Manchester for the europa league final. The fans I spoke to said they thpought Bristol City were ok. I was very drunk though.

Personally I don't see the point in segregation, it's going to be a great day.

Anybody whinging about celtic should suck it up and pay more attention to the South Bristol Loyal flags. I first wore my rangers shirt on the EE (the away half red/half white) when I was a youngster back in the day.

Don't think it'll kick off on Saturday, it'll be a love in with City gers fans. No Surrender and all that baloney. Each to their own.

Won't be surprised if an advance party of Zombies celebrating King Billy the night before fall foul of the police though.

Why wear another teams shirt at a City game? totally unacceptable whether its a Rangers or celtic top. Even when the "troubles" were happening during the 70's & 80's we didn't have this sort of nonsense at AG. Just follow your home-town club and forget about the bigots in another Country 400 miles away.

Half ski half beanie hat City one side rangers other was an eighties terrace accessorie. section of lads always like the gers also have and been like that for decades. As for nonsense one rangers bloke turned up at a city game dressed as monk funny sight that leading the escort from pub to ground. See willem ii and sparta flags odd badge scarf and t shirt in the eastend along with shhh Rangers.

Remember the ski hats well, had one myself, most people had either red or yellow, cant recall too many half & half although i know they were about, is wearing Rangers/Celtic gear any different than people walking around with Man Utd or Liverpool tops? which i detest.

I think it is very different, Man Utd are another English club and therefore a rival for Bristol City in the pursuit of trophies (I think they are probably doing a bit better than us although I cannot remember the last time they lifted the coveted LDV vans Trophy). Rangers and Celtic are from another country, therefore like Willem II I cannot see a problem in supporting them as a second team.

you should be giving me away full stop! :)

considering you're not even the real Monkeh I think that comment is out of your jurisdiction.

With regards to Rangers, I'm really not into the National Anthem and would find it a little cheesey and embarrassing if everyone starts singing it (not really our thing is it?) also don't like anti Welsh songs, I mean really who cares?

Way back at work we were trying to remember these half and half things, usually produced for the bigger clubs and having a particular club associated rather than pick and mix.

This is half-remembered so open to any correction:

Chelsea - Rangers

Liverpool - Celtic

Man U - Aberdeen (as Ferguson was there previously)

Everton are the Catholic team on Merseyside. More likely to see Liverpool - Rangers ski hats. You often see a Northern Ireland flag behind the goal at Anfield. I went to a Merseyside derby once in the Everton end and they were singing about chucking Proddies in the Mersey, it was banter as opposed to real nasty chanting though.

Well my point on this is that its a great friendly fixture. I dont like the sectarian element tbh and as someone who vowed to follow Celtic in Scotland due to family comments that were terrible about Celtic, I would prefer them. That said I respect Rangers big time. I have seen three Celtic Rangers matches loved the tension but hated the sectarian chants as a protestant stood in the jungle it really was hard to stomach. And my hope it does not descend to this as large Catholic element at City.

In summary a great fixture I hope is a love in but aside of that just hope city fans do not join in with sectarian songs it could alienate supporters big time at time when we need to be united.

Mmmmmmmm as in special needs..........gonna be a mare....FFS people wake up !....sorry but true

Not so sure now, posters on various forums are convincing me it is going to be more of a carnival. How it is policed could be vital, if the Old Bill are heavy handed at the Waterfront on the Friday night there could be bother. Also if there are any 12th July marches that are met with any resistance it could get messy.
