Fans Advice For Flags Vs Rangers

I have been made aware of the following seeing we have our own surfers and flags etc:

(At the moment no plans have been made for our flags to be on view)

Following requests via the Scottish Police to Bristol city, the club have today authorised the Rangers supporters to bring a surfer flag, flags on telescopic poles & a drum to this fixture provided they comply with the usual rules regarding fire certificates ect – The club did draw the line at loud hailers !!!

Please can you advise those City fans that you normally communicate with that if they wish to bring out the surfer flag and / or the flags on poles they can provided that the normal safeguards concerning responsibility are followed. Hopefully this should add to the atmosphere and enjoyment of all.

Might be wrong, but swear big George smells awful when it's getting passed over!

Big George is no more. Hence the new surfer flags that have been purchased

If I remember rightly it was a few years back that he got damp when stored and therefore became unusable due to the smell/stains from the damp.

Hence why the new flags were purchased last year.

Partly right, the big George that is no more and smelled was the one used around the gate in john wards promotion season and was not looked after and got put away wet which ends up smelling of mould to the point it was unusable and chucked out.

Main reason new surfers were purchased was down to fire certificates.

This flag below is no more.

This big George below was stored in the east end and was surfed a few times until the club asked for a safety certificate to surf it to which I do not have and others could not find it (at the time the flag was made it was never needed and not law to have one) it is made out of balloon material by Bristol balloons and would take some doing burning it in hells garden let alone in the East End, so with that the flag went over the segregation between the home and away fans, the flag was then taken off the segregation due to the future TV netting sponsorship which their logo needed to be on show, this then left the flag with a limited space to lay it over the seats and it just didn't fit, the flag was taken out of the stand at the same time the rest of the stuff was taken away in protest to future TV netting. The flag has since been washed, dried and stored properly so it is very much still usable as a surfer or over the segregation netting (politics permitting).

There is absolutely no reason apart from a piece of paper that big George can't be surfed, it's basically a hot air balloon.

This flag below is fine and stored away

How big is big George? I'm amazed at how it is possible, for a flag to catch fire in a non smoking stadium, even more so when its made out of balloon material!

Yeah agreed

Not 100% sure of it's actual measurements but to give you an idea it will cover over half a seated block in the East end

The flag is at the back in this picture

And an idea of the Murray flag size
