Southampton Away.. How Many Will Go?

It is a crap draw. The last time we got this far in the League Cup we played Southampton at home. We've played them seven times since the turn of the century and we've only won three of our last ten games down there.

To put that into context, we haven't played Arsenal, Man U, Villa or Spurs in a competitive match since the 1980s and Chelsea or Liverpool since the 1990s.

It's not a new gound for many and it's a them we have played a few times in recent years so not a huge attraction. A fair few from Bristol do go o Uni down there though so that might help swell the numbers. I think Swindon is a more attractive game, add the unexpected £15 for the Gas game too and many will decide to give this a miss if finances, and time, are short.

What ever happened to the football "special" trains we used to enjoy in the late 70s and early 80s?

I remember going to Coventry and Palace in the late 70s early 80s for evening cup games.

Can anyone remember when the Palace special stopped in the London area while the emergency services collected a body off the line. We were all worried we will miss the game, but we all got there in time.
