pongo88
For the best advice on how to a avoid paying any of these sort of fines, go to the Honest John website.
Guest
Just ignore them. Letters aren't worth the paper that they are written on.
pride of the west
Ive not had anything but you are right to ignore. Unless theyre issued by a local authority warden or police then they can go swivel. They probably dont have any authority or even been asked by anybody to monitor the area. On match days its usually the police that issue tickets as they aint got nothing to do for 90 minutes.
Pickle Rick
Yea I have used my friend Google to search NGP and moneysavingexpert and many others laughing it off and saying to just ignore. Reinforced my advice then There must be loads of pikey parking charge company's doing the same, trying to frighten/force people to pay up.
Kid in the Riot
ASDA in Bemi the same, they've tried to fine me twice. Just ignore and they will go away...
Nibor
If it says "fine" or "penalty" you can ignore it. If it's a "charge" or a "fee" they can take you to court. They may not bother but I know one guy that this happened to and he did go to court. Best to write to them disputing the charge, ask them to prove you entered into a contract with them and to explain how their terms are fair under the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977. Spoonbed
Best advice is just to ignore. Use the reams of paper that they'll send you( prob around 4-5 letters) for wiping your arsenal. Don't engage in any telephone/ written correspondence whatsoever.
sh1t_ref_again
have to agree with the totally ignore stance, as I had a parking company fron the Aspect leisure chasing me because I did not park in a correct bay. eventually after a number of threatening type letters to me they went away. I belive they can take you to court but would have to demonstrate a loss, so its not worth tne cost of doing so.
southvillekiddy
I got off on a threatened fine at Chievely Services on the M4 by saying : the signage was non-existent my lawyer advised me they didn't have a case and that I would see them in court

Pickle Rick
Just in case anyone gets a letter from this cowboy company in the future: http://www.cardiffcityforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=103454 I know it's C**d!ff fc but this company operate at large around the centre and near their ground. redsquirrel
so have they actually been authorised to dish out tickets or do they just pick a no parking area and try their luck?

Pickle Rick
I would keep it here, more people will see it, less will get ripped off. Better still pin it on this forum. Not so people can park where they want, as the council parking attendants can deal with that... But so that an awareness may be spread to stop the likes of this company using fear based tactics to charge people of their money earned.
SimplyRed
The only correction I'd make is that an operator is quite often appointed agent of the landowner and often, under their contract with the landowner, is able to puruse action in the name of the landowner. That said that doesn't make claims any more legitimate. Ignore and move on. It's true that the parking company can legally act as an agent for the landowner BUT in any legal action, the named plaintiff in the case MUST be the landowner - and there's the rub - because not many landowners (Tesco, asda, etc) want the negative publicity for the sake of a few quid. Port Said Red
I had to pay one of these fines up in London. Not because I gave in but because I have a lease car and they went to the registered owner. I told them not to pay it but their policy is to pay up as they are not prepared to engage in a legal dispute.
Zider_I_Up_Landlord
NGP are the company that have recently taken over the parking on Paxton Drive (flats where bowling/planet kids was) which is a private road and is sign posted clearly throughout. If it's here where you have parked then you only have yourself to blame as it's pretty obvious you shouldn't park there. When you say you parked on "a bit of grass" I'm guessing you mean either the entrance or exit to this street. I have a friend who lives there and parking is a problem, where the footpath is unusable due to all the cars and the grass areas are becoming mud baths. I wouldn't like it if on a weekend people started parking on my front garden or driveway and I'm sure you wouldn't either. Why don't we all just use bus, taxi or train and have a drink and be merry.
