'City still have one of the biggest budgets in the league and were tipped for promotion. But, after failing to win in their first 12 games, they find themselves third from bottom in the table'.

So if this is the case, why on earth was SOD not to have a budget available to sign players permanently other than Aden Flint? or any league 2 talents for that matter.

Will we actually decide to back the next manager with a transfer budget and a policy on not signing players over the age of 24? if any more permanent signings are made in January at all that is. According to the pundits we aren't as bad off as we say we are...

It's not a "policy" that has to be adhered to at all times.. Harewood, Gillet to name two signings are over 24. Looks like Burt has an increased input on transfers so it's who he and the management agree on i'd imagine.

300k is quite a lot to spend on someone with the experience of Flint and O'Driscoll has implied he wouldn't necessarily have chosen to spend that on Flint. I think the board have backed him reasonably well really considering.

Agree with above - I read on here that some of the players mentioned make up 70% of our wage bill!! if true, that's a huge chunk of money to play with when they're off the payroll.

Because the money is tied up in Fontaine, Kilkenny, Wilson, and Pearson.. When these players move on we will have the chance to bring in several players... Hell if Fonts and Kilkenny go in January SOD (whoever takes over) will be able to sign four or more players.

I think he was backed fairly well. Dare say most other teams in our league couldn't afford the wages of most of these players.

Most were from free's or approached for a pro contract. Not signing signings from other clubs. From that list how many of these were hand me downs from the Championship? how many made little beyond 15-20 appearances for their clubs in that season?

Williams and Wynter were offered new contracts at their respective clubs which means we had to pay compensation ie not free

Pack was not free

Gillett Osborne o'conner and McLaughin were loans we'd pick up part of their wages and would have to pay a loan fee ie not free

Fielding we had to pay compensation for (rumored to be between 100k and 400k) not free

Parish Wagstaff and Hairwood were free but we'd still pay a signing on fee again not free,

out of all of them only jet is the genuiun free transfer and we still had to swap Anderson for him
