We Need To Toughen Up

Can't remember anyone really getting stuck in this season, can't remember anyone sticking in a crunching tackle. If some one would have nailed Pringle early on he may not of gone on to run the show the way he did.

From corners they just stand next to their man, no rough and tumble, no blocking runs or so on.

We are just so nice it's untrue, toughen up lads FFS.

If we want to stay up it's going to be through battling and not pretty football.

wasn't there yesterday, but talking to my son he thought it was the most limp wristed side he's ever seen run out in our colours.

second to every ball and total fannys in the tackle.

Would love to see some new warm up routines pre match to get the players in the mood for the battle ahead.

Two players equi-distant from a ball between them - straight race to the ball. The player who gets the ball gets dropped from the starting 11, the player who gets the player wears the captain's armband.

Absolutely spot on. Although Osborne has got stuck in a bit, certainly more than the other lightweights.

Said this before we was exactly the same last season too much off the ball jockeying and not enough getting stuck in or even attempting any kind of challenge shocking!

At last, I have been waiting for what seems an age...

The lowest common denominator.

'Toughen up lads'

Piece of cake, a few weights, some raw steak and eggs and a nasty attitude.

Play offs here we come!

The main problem with this was Elliott had a game where he didn't want to tackle, Not so much a problem for anyone else but that's the only thing Elliott can do :noexp:

For me I don't mind not tackling, But closing down is a must, Don't commit in silly areas and make it difficult for them to settle the ball down, Twice we have done this, Surprise surprise both times we walked away with 3 points

Get in there face make it uncomfortable for them, Make them shy away from receiving the ball, No need to concede sily free kicks for fouling, Only tackle when you can get the ball (and a bit of the player)

The last four seasons teams have come here and played it like a home game, Attacking freely without our players putting any pressure on them, It's easy to see from the stands, Why can't the person paid to see it on the touchline not! And the professionals paid to be physically fit to be able to last 90 minutes of running do exactly that?

Very Frustrating as a supporter

I've long held the view that SOD's apparent mantra of creating a passing style of football (not that he did really) and play our way out of the depths of this league and on to mount a challenge was not the way that was going to work. Certainly not with the players he has brought in.

Firstly we need to be a lot more physical, need to "get in the faces" of the opposition, stop them playing and having an easy time and deny them space. We need to be quicker to the ball, much stronger in the challenge and not be brushed off the ball so easily. Virtually every team we've played this season have closed us down, challenged, tackled and/or fought for every ball, and been a lot quicker in their movement on and off the ball. We need strong physical players to fight for 90+ mins. each game and not be the soft touch that is BCFC.

I hope SC can bring in the right players to toughen us up. If he can, and add them to those players who made a big difference in the 2nd half on Saturday we may yet see us climb up the league.

I've seen far too much slow passing across the back and lump it footie under SOD. I'm more than ready for a bit of "ugly" footie if it gets us some results.
