Disgusting Defending

Just back from Wolves and not read what's on here, but we basically started the game very slow, Wolves dominating, then Flint plays a stupid ball from his own box and Wolves go 1 up, hammering on the cards we're thinking.

Then we started to get a foothold in the game, and a good few moves, Cunningham then brought down and Sammy dispatched the penalty, and we were dominating and they looked rattled,, step forward Derrick Williams right before half time, who again passes a ball straight to a Wolves player just outside his own box, which lead to a drilled cross which hit Derrick's backside, WE GAVE THEM TWO GOALS.

This is the most frustrating season ever, we have a capable team, but we badly need wingers (especially right) and the mistakes HAVE to stop, cannot believe how many goals/points we are throwing away, we could pay big time.

The game was actually there for the taking first half, we had a few chances second half but when you literally give a side like that two goals, you have no chance.

Hey man, relax; we've found the solution!  As some on this forum have so wisely pointed out; when we drop JET these sort of individual errors you point out that are devastating our season will evaporate, and we'll look nice and solid again, thanks to having literally ANYONE else up front running about like a mad man instead.

That's true, as long as they wave their arms a lot and shout...

Crazy isn't it?

JET is to blame every week if he doesn't get us out the shit. We gave away all 3 goals today and did our very best to hand them more.

Staggered that off the back of a few abject sub appearances, Tyrone Barnett is the answer to all of our problems and should displace our top scorer.

It's the same story year after year. We don't do the basics right defensively.

Goals conceded are once again looking like being our downfall. Only 9 teams in the league average more goals FOR per game than we do. Unfortunately we're amongst the worst for goals conceded per game which is why we're propping up the table.

couldent make it to the game but have seen the goals so cant really judge the performance but the third goal we had five players-of statue like form frozen to the spot and nil in the way of reacting to what was happening.glaring example of ball watching.will need to react to situations at Brentford or 3-1 could be nothing...

Is this the beginning of the cotterill out campaign by many? It appears many supporters didn't like his most recent interview, haven't been keen on his selections/subs and performances are on a downward slope.

It all sounds like were all hearing up for a SC bashing

I think it's safe to say the honeymoon period is over. From here it will be a struggle.

Our squad capability is top 6 in this league, about half our team are Championship standard. I just hope SC can get the best out of our team.

If we were to go down, the board would face a real dilemma. Keep a manager who isn't good enough to keep us in L1, or sack another and disettle things further.

The fact is, we have been doing this all season.

These simple mistakes are so avoidable, but seem to do the same week in, week out. We have quality defenders in this league, Flint proved this at Swindle, Williams has been very good, but yesterday had a shocker, El-Abd is proven at championship level etc etc, but every week, it astonishes me that they find yet another way, to make a defensive c*ck up, yet again.

I was there and would suggest that us dominating and Wolves rattled is a tad generous. We held our own, did not look too threatening, and Wolves always looked capable of upping their game. I just thought it was same as usual, Parrish looked ordinary, defence was shocking, Elliott and Gillett worked hard, Reid tried but looked a bit lost at times, but with little width, Baldock not being 7 foot tall, and JET being JET, had few attacking outlets. Personally I find JET very frustrating, occasional flashes of brilliance, but too often he was easily dispossessed, was caught waiting for the ball rather than attacking it, and generally on the edge of the game. Then again, with no threat down the right, and Cunningham trying gamely on the left with little support, the Wolves defence just kept him tightly marked leaving us few options.

Wagstaff, Baldock, Cunningham, Moloney, Reid, Gillett and Bryan have a proved they can do well at championship level.

Maybe some of them for short periods, but not one of those can be considered proven Championship standard imo. Marv. and El Abd have been, but Championship standard right now, not so sure.

Mind you, if we get an offer for any of those you've listed from a Championship club before the end of the window, then I might have to think again.
