City could theoretically do the same with Ashton Gate by buying up adjacent land etc.

madmax
Wickes? Thats all that is left there as Dreams are gone. Then next door you have Midas Construction HQ and the Cherry Pickers next door again. Bag that land and you have a large foot print. Downside is the storm drain that runs behind the Williams car park. There would need to be access to that. MM
Stoke_Gifford_Red
Wickes? Tottenham have bought loads of various properties (housing, commercial, shops etc on all different roads) and have arguably let the bits they have purchased decline to increase likelihood of purchasing remainder. The equivalent would be us buying the houses on Ashton road, wickes and the other industrial buildings next to them, the old Mercedes garage and some of the houses on raynes road. Possibly achievable but very costly for a football club in league one and rugby club in championship when existing development plans (without purchasing additional land) will provide over double the number of seats of the current average attendance.
