Some of the pundits only picking 5 mids??

4-3-3 / 4-2-4

Back four picks itself and Hart starts. Apart from that i got confused after about 10 seconds!!

 Maybe keep Gerrard and Henderson, they are used to the roles,  in front of a back four and tell any 4 of these to spread out and enjoy themselves;

Barkley- sturridge- rooney- Lallana- wilshere- sterling- chamberlain.

Take Lambert if we need a number 9?

Not thought this through much mind! :P

Shaw should really go ahead of Cole, Shaw is putting in good performances where as Cole can't even get in the starting line up anymore. Lallana should also start as well, a player whose right on top of their game at the moment.

Agree with you mate. My first team is young and exciting, whereas I can only see hogdson going for a team like my second

I'd add Rooney to your side, will still be around for the Russia world cup so shouldn't be discarded 15 goals so far this season and probably a good few assists.

Yeah, I would have. Just couldn't fit him in unless it went

Lallana Rooney Ox/Sterling

Sturridge

Which I guess is just as good, although its finally a fight for places and a nice dilemma for places, there's more than enough good players fighting for players

Hart, Forster, Butland (Young, so the experience will do him good as only 3rd choice)

Baines, Shaw, Johnson, Walker

Cahill, Jagielka, Caulker, Jones

Gerrard, Carrick, Henderson, Wilshere

Barkley, Lalana, Ox, Sterling

Lamber, Rodriegez, Rooney, Sturridge

Michael Owen confirms he knows nothing about football with his squad.

Only two of the 'experts' would take Henderson. Says it all. Clueless.

None picking Jay Rodruigez says more, joint with Rooney on 15 and only Sturridge with more, yet all of them would take Welbeck.

Edit - None of them would take Shaw as well

I don't understand your selection. Walkers been shite, wilshere has had another stop start season and not really done a lot when he's played - will be travelling to Brazil lacking fitness. Front four am can't really argue with you and I'd also like to see Terry and Cahill at the back

The 11 I'd like to see:

Hart

Johnson Cahill Terry Baines/ Shaw

Gerrard - Henderson

Sterling - Rooney - Lallana

Sturridge

Keeping the holding mid and central defence partnerships in club. I'm pretty sure Terry won't go though. This is just the best 11 on current form, for me they pick themselves (apart from left back where I'd be happy with either of those two - not Cole though!)

I don't think there's any good reason to take 8 defenders.  Realistically defenders get used a lot less than midfielders or attackers and we've got central defenders who can cover as right backs (not brilliantly admittedly but our right backs aren't great as it is).  Far better to have options on the bench when we need a win.

So  (assuming Rodriguez is out and Wilshere hasn't played enough on his return) I'd go for:

Hart/Forster/Foster

Glen Johnson/Jagielka/Cahill/Smalling/Jones/Baines/Shaw

Gerrard/Henderson/Carrick/Barkley/Lallana/Sterling/Oxlade-Chamberlain/Milner/Ravel Morrison

Rooney/Sturridge/Welbeck/Lambert

I'd love to see a front-three of Sturridge, Sterling and Welbeck.  Not necessarily the best three individuals but I reckon they could add pace and fluidity beyond anything England has had in years.  Whether that leaves Rooney on the bench or as an attacking midfielder, I'm not too sure.  At the moment I'd say Lallana is possibly better suited to play behind the front three but we shall see.

Exactly my team. It picks itself I reckon. Terry won't go so Jones should play instead.

Are we going to out-football any decent team? Any team come to think of it?

Nope. We're third rate at best. So Carroll has to be in - revert to the traditional battering ram that the foreign teams aren't familiar with and we might, just might, sneak a victory.

 Yep.  Foreign countries never ever produce big, muscular strong target men and all the defenders from all the other countries in the tournament will definitely have never played against tall, strong strikers before.  Drogba, Carew, Lukaku and Ibrahimovic are all as English as they come.

Erm.. at least 80% of the teams in Brazil won't be using a target man. Beyond Carroll, Lambert and Crouch not many in the Premiership. Of course the European leagues all play the English style so your point is proven. Silly me.
