Major Isewater
Just occasionally it's good to not be the Spanish national team. We have looked jealously at the Iberics for some years now but today is pay back big time and the pobrecitos have still a dead rubber to play before slinking off home in shame. I hope our boys are watching And give a good account if themselves tonight. All good things come to an end ,Hasta la vista baby !
bcfcchris2016
We may very well be alongside Spain by 10pm tonight. I did hear Roy Hodgson mention something like "I'm sure we're be taking off after the group stages". He probably just means Heathrow.

I'm quietly confident for tonight though. Italy are a better team. Uruguay over hyped. Your move, fate

samo II
We've played worse than against Italy and lost in the WC/Euros before, while Uruguay might have made the semis last time, this year and that one aside, they've only qualified for one other since 1990. Not singing our praises, nor suggesting we're a shoe-in or anything, but we've as good a chance as any beating them tonight.
joeyb
Not the first side in recent years to win and then not get through the group stages at the next tournament But they are the first side to win and then be the first team out of the next tournament! Always Believesham
But they are the first side to win and then be the first team out of the next tournament! Brazil are the only team to have got out of the group stages after winning the trophy since 1994 aren't they? France, Italy & now Spain have had howlers trying to defend the trophy
Steve Watts
But they are the first side to win and then be the first team out of the next tournament! They weren't the first out. Australia beat them by a few hours.
BS4 on Tour...
Scotland's got a bigger population number than Uruguay! The Uruguyans continually over-achieve but we should beat them with the pace of our attacks

If Spain had beaten Chile - Australia could then have still gone through; it's a joint 'going out first' wooden spoon
