BCAGFC Posted August 30, 2014 Report Share Posted August 30, 2014 I've been thinking about academy/youth system and it occurred to me that we never produce any goalkeepers or strikers of note who go on to be a 1st team regular. We produce defenders (Bryant/Hill etc, etc) and midfielders (Skuse/Reid etc, etc) but we never produce anyone in the 2 important roles of goalkeeper and striker. Ray Cashley and Len Bond are the only 2 goalkeepers I can remember although I suppose you could class Steve 'Flapper' Phillips although he started his career at Paulton Rovers. Can't think of any strikers........my Alzheimers must be playing up again. Just seems very strange that we can't produce players in those positions.
