Monkeh
Been very critical of him but that was the best goalkeeping performance I've seen in a long time Keep it up frank
cityexile
Would have to say he takes as much of the blame for the second as Elliot, but some very good takes late on when under pressure.
ChippenhamRed
Generally excellent today, but with their equaliser if he doesn't hesitate he gets there first and clears the ball with his feet.

Can not put any blame on frankie for that! As you are cityexile I'm guessing you didn't see it?
nickolas
Can not put any blame on frankie for that! As you are cityexile I'm guessing you didn't see it? But he's correct, Fielding bottled it! He would have made that ball first if he'd have kept going for it. And dont mistake flapping at crosses as good goalkeeping! He's too small and not commanding enough. Plus his spill of their first goal wasnt the best either. Apart from that he's spot on!

I had a perfect view from lower Dolman (Atyeo end) and I am 100% convinced he would have got there first had he not hesitated. But to reiterate he was otherwise flawless. brad blit
So glad someone started this thread as I was about to do the same! He had no chance with 1st despite pulling off 2 great saves first, and he could have come out earlier for 2nd but generally one of the best keeping displays iv seen up gate for long time! Keep it up Frank!
formerly known as ivan
He didnt bottle it. Afobe was always getting there first. Frankie tried to call his bluff unfortunately it didnt work. Some great saves today including the double one which eventually lead to their goal. cityexile
Not knocking him, any more than Elliott. Just a big screw up. I will wait to see it again. Thought he had very good game overall.

Bit harsh to call it a spill? Need to see it again to be fair but that wasn't my instinct. Don't recall any flapping, only solid catches and decent punches. Welcome To The Jungle
The save for their first was a good one, then he blocked the rebound. A shame he couldn't make it a triple save. As for the 2nd I was behind the goal so don't lnow if he would have got their first but it looked like he was trying to make their striker go round him and trick him. Never mind, 3 more points. cityexile
OK, this is a positive thread, which he does deserve. Was my first instinct, re second goal but maybe I was wrong. Either way, he was a key player in the result, when we were under a lot of pressure.
ChippenhamRed
Thank god someone else saw it the same as I did thought I was going mad Think it might depend on your viewpoint in the ground. I remember thinking 'he's gonna get there' as he rushed out, but then he decided to slow down. Still convinced if he continued at full pelt he gets there first. cityexile
View on first one for what it is worth, was that he did really well, and was somewhat let down by the rest of the defence looking static.
Keepers Ball
Fielding is a good goalkeeper and deserves his place but he is limited with his height. How many times have we seen him come for a ball to weakly punch it away? That said he is an excellent stopper and has sharp reflexes but we once had a keeper similar if not better with shot stopping in the guise of Steve Phillips and look at the stick he got. Im afraid to say we still need better
fka dagest
I'd say it is very harsh to lay the blame for Elliot's backpass on Fielding. I thought he actually did quite well. I couldn't believe Elliot did that but it shows just what kind of man he is that he went up the pitch straight after and scored the winner. nebristolred
Fielding definitely did not bottle that. It's 1 on 1 outside the box, what else could he do?! Would have been much worse if he'd committed and brought the striker down...
Guest
You might not think he bottled it but pretty much everyone in B block who had the best view did. Of course by not bottling it he may have got there a fraction late, brought the player down and got himself sent off. I was level on the other side, and while FF did seem to be closer the MK player was pretty quick. Right decision in my opinion, yes a goal but FF stayed on the pitch. Bar BS3
Would have to say he takes as much of the blame for the second as Elliot, but some very good takes late on when under pressure. Totally disagree. He was sold well short by Elliott who then responded like a true captain.
Super Scotty Murray
We all know he is a great shot stopper and he showed that today. Some quality saves. However, I was sat in Dolman Block C and he 100% bottled it on the back pass...however he should never have been put in that position.
Sparkz 76
Well footballers make mistakes otherwise nobody would hardly score a goal. We played a very good team today and won. Chatting to dons fans after game they thought are defence was amazing and said that freeman was a fantastic player. Amazing result and we are flying and fear nobody. ChippenhamRed
You might not think he bottled it but pretty much everyone in B block who had the best view did. Exactly this. Only those with an exact side-on view could see that Fielding's rate of progress towards the ball was going to get him there first had he kept going. That said there is no question that the error was fundamentally with Elliot rather than the keeper.
cityexile
Totally disagree. He was sold well short by Elliott who then responded like a true captain. Well, either way, he was put in that position by the primary error that was certainly Elliot's. Quite possibly was being over harsh, he had a decision to make, rather than a lack of bottle. Its a debating point as to whether he made the right one, which will be be thankfully lost in the afterglow of a great win, which he certainly made his contribution towards. Super
I thought he was very good today but he must do better for the first goal not push it out into the middle of the goal.

Its funny how we all see the game differently! On that one I thought he did very well, and it seemed like the rest of the defence was standing around watching. Need to see these goals again!
