LondonBristolian
I wish we still had a player called Wimshurst - that's a brilliant word. Wonder if any of the current team would be up for changing their name? Hope Briggs was defending better than he did when he was on loan with us from Fulham... There is, believe it or not, a static electricity generator called the Wimshurst Machine. A sort of miniature Van de Graaf Generator.

harvey54
My mum and uncle went and my mum tells a great story about when they were coming out of Upton Park tube station and she got her arse pinched. She turned around only to see a London copper grinning like a Cheshire cat.

Malago
Bit harsh on old Ken there... I always liked him, but I remember as a 9-10 year old that some of the older supporters were not too impressed with his "lightweight" approach. They weren't very forgiving in the old enclosure. Roadrunner
I got there late, just after John Galleys goal. As we sat down Peters scored. The team put in a good effort against a team that finish 8th in the top division.

NiceRed
I read quite an amusing Harry Redknapp quote about the WH team he played in in the 60s/70s. Was something along the lines of: "We had half the World Cup winning team but still finished 15th half the time. Just shows how sh1t the rest of us were." Though they did win the Cup and Cup Winners' Cup I think

BS15_RED
Bill Shankly to Keegan "That Bobby Moore is the best defender you will ever play against" My favourite quote about him was from the legendary Celtic manager Jock Stein "There should be a law against him, he knows what's going on 20 minutes before everyone else", RIP Bobby.
