SC&T Board Members Blagdon red Posted January 22, 2015 SC&T Board Members Report Share Posted January 22, 2015 Not as unlikely as it might sound. The Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, i.e. the man with the power to allow rail seats for safe standing, grew up and went to school in Bristol. Were you with him at: Downend School, 1981 to 1986? orFilton Technical College, 1986 to 1988? Still in contact? If so, and you can put me (in my Safe Standing Roadshow guise) in touch with him, I'd be very grateful. Please PM or e-mail safe.standing@gmx.com. Thanks. SC&T Board Members Blagdon red Posted January 22, 2015 Author SC&T Board Members Report Share Posted January 22, 2015 I know how to contact him out of blue, thanks. I'm looking for someone who can put me in touch with him rather more informally. Anyone at that school or college with him during those years? PS: Yes, I saw what he said at the select committee meeting.

East Yorkshire CideRed
Saw his name come up in connection with Downend a few years back. I know a few former teachers at his school, but none I've spoken with seem to remember him.

CyderInACan
Cabinet ministers are no doubt right up for fellow alumni contacting them out of the blue after years to promote some cause or other. It's a great idea.
SC&T Board Members Blagdon red Posted January 23, 2015 Author SC&T Board Members Report Share Posted January 23, 2015 Cabinet ministers are no doubt right up for fellow alumni contacting them out of the blue after years to promote some cause or other. It's a great idea. Which is why, as I said in the OP, I'm looking for someone "still in contact" with him. I'm sure that most people on here who were at school in the 1980s are still in contact with several friends from those days.... perhaps among our fellow forum users is somebody who became and is still friends with Mr Javid and who would be kind enough to effect an introduction. There may be nobody who fits the bill. But who knows!
