Parking Charge Notice - South Bristol Trade Park

The ticket was issued last season, so post 2012. Guess the company (Cardiff based) were "rogue" and couldn't do shit ;)

Pirates.

Fair enough. Guess it may depend on the company wether they bother to peruse it further.

They will all know where they stand legally. Some of them probably see it as a waste of time going to the courts, some may use this to panic people into paying their "fines".

In essence, they are all rogue and can't do shit!! They just rely on people being oblivious to this!

Any parking fine issued by anyone other than the council, police or traffic warden can be ignored.

Yes, they probably will send you letters but private companies can't make you pay parking fines so just put them in the bin.

If you are clamped then they can charge you a release fee, but parking tickets they are purely chancing their arm in the knowledge that most people will be to worried and just pay up.

Don't ever pay the extortionate charges at hospitals, supermarkets etc. just private companies on the rob.

This is not true. Anybody can raise a claim against anybody in court and for small claims if you ignore it you WILL end up with a CCJ. If they don't claim in court do what you like but do ignore a summons at your peril and don't advise others to do something that will destroy their credit worthiness.

Very good advice. As said they can now apply for CCJs as the parking company can hold the owner responsible!

That I was not aware of! I haven't paid private company parking fines in my life and have never received a summons for them.

Perhaps what I should have said is that it's highly unlikely that they would go to the lengths of taking you to court over it. Just threaten to do so and most people pay up.

As quite rightly stated above, do not ignore a court summons.

And don't ignore these letters.

The advice over on the MSE forum is fairly simple to follow - send them back a templated latter and 99% of the time they drop the charges immediately.

There is further advice if they don't.
