Merrick's Marvels
Anyone know the origins of this song? When we first sang it? Why? To the tune of 'Strangers in the night', was it? Don't think we nicked it off anyone else, so believe it's unique to BCFC.

Rudolf Hucker
It is Tom Thumb's song. The best song we never sing. Back in the day, everyone joined in. We need a revival - it is unique to us.
Phileas Fogg
What better time to bring it back than tomorrow! Fairly generic song - but i'm convinced the way we sing "Ole ole ole ole, Bristol, City" is unique to us - the inclination going up at the end, is that correct? What other unique songs do we have bar the EastEnd ones and obviously Wurzel things.

Yo Jimbo !
I'm pretty sure that the "Tom Thumb"song originated due to the diminutive stature of Steve Galliers. It would be particularly appropriate tomorrow as we signed the tiny terror from the original Wimbledon.

cidered abroad
Wish I could speak Chinaland, sounds complicated. It is very simple. Tune very easy. Yes let's resurrect it tomorrow. Unique to City as I have never heard it from any other club. We sang this over thirty years ago.

City Rocker
I'm sure that it pre-dated his arrival. I recall it was sung back in the first division days. I don't recall ever hearing it until around 86/87, started off in the enclosure and grew quickly. Remember dozens of us doo-be-dooing it while dancing on the tables of a Wembley pub that season. Cowshed
It was the CSF originally and would be heard at any away game from about 84 which saw Citys boys turn out in numbers. Bournemouth away heard Tom Thumb echoing through the stand as the game was delayed due to missiles / pitch invasion.

redcherryberry
Remember singing this at Stoke's old Victoria Ground. Peter O Hanraha-hanrahan
The first time I was taken in the Eastend was for the Chelsea FA Cup tie, 1990ish I think. I can remember hearing the song accompanied by everyone going a bit 'mental' and jumping around. I thought it was brilliant. Great song.

(That Bournemouth game was September 86 btw. We lost to 2 dodgy pens, Moyes sent off for protesting the second which sparked "disagreement" from the away end. Bournemouth went up as champions, despite having Pulis and O'Driscoll playing for them - what a thought! - but not before we set the record straight by spanking them in the home game at The Gate). Mike Hunt-Hertz
I started going in '81, and cannot ever remember hearing it until '86ish. Always understood it to be an homage to the three foot psycho, Galliers. (Or maybe '87?)
