Record Breakers?

Recommended Posts

Looking at the table after tonight's excellent performance it's occurred to me we must be on course to break records this season.

Potentially the first title for 60 years of course but what else?

First double winning side?

Record points tally in a season?

Record positive goal difference?

Earliest promotion in a season?

Most goals scored by non-strikers?

Truly a special side we have.

First double winning side? - very possible!

Record points tally in a season? 91 points is our record haul. 9 more points in 8 games needed. Very likely id say!

Record positive goal difference? Well we had +55 in 1955 and we are now on +41. Think thats probably too big an ask.

Earliest promotion in a season? Think in 1998 we we up by early april. We could possibly beat that one but unlikely id say.

Most goals scored by non-strikers? Cant remember a more prolific non striker than Flinty!! Hes got more than Byfield our top scorer in 2008 had!

Was itwhen Grimsby lost on good Friday? Recall going to Burnley on the sat celebrating. Till the ref screwed over Adam Locke..

91 points is indeed our highest, but in complete fairness, the '55 side got a straight 100 points adjusted, with 30 wins and 10 draws. Still just in range however.

If you also adjust for games played, 1905-06 P38 W30 D6 L2 is 96 points on 3 points for a win; 96 points divided by 38 matches X 46 = 116...!

Most wins in a season is on. I reckon that record currently goes to the 2002-3 team with 33 wins in all competitions - we've got 32 so far this season.

Has the JPT (Football League Trophy under any name) and League One (3rd division) champions double ever been done?
