slartibartfast
It was known that Barnsley were bringing 30 to 40 idiots who were 'known' for causing trouble.. THAT looked like the sum of the entire away attendance !

That would have been the dirty jean and dirty trainer wearing, knuckle dragging benefit spending 40 a day knobheads I saw! At least the streets of Barnsley were safe this afternoon. Red-Robbo
I'm guessing they were there to ensure the away fans returned home and didn't try to stay in Bristol and claim asylum.

Harry
What was high police presence today all about? There must have been one copper for every Barnsley fan! Since when has City v Barnsley been a match needing that sort of presence? Dates back to last season in Championship. Barnsley brought some lads down, tried to have a pop, and got screwed. I guess the old bill figured they might try it again, but the northerners showed no face today.

Buckobcfc
there were a few lads and a bird (who in fairness I would of smashed the backdoors in on) giving it loads in the car park by kfc on the way out and claiming we were soft as shite, I offered em directions to the three lions to see how that sort of thing goes down up there on a side note Barnsley is by FAR the worst place ive ever been in the uk and I have worked away in Pembroke

MrBibs
Some appalling snobbery on here imo. Let's turn a thread about extra police into a dig about people on benefits. The cost of a football match, let alone an away match, is way beyond the pockets of most people on benefits.
Lord Northski
There were way too many. e.g. Riot vans lined up on the Winterstoke Road, There weren't that many away fans either, Perhaps they got their fixture list muddled up and thought it was Swindon today. Compare that to the police presence at Yeovil v City a few weeks ago. Virtually no police at all. Not sure who decides the number of police. If its the police themselves then that seems wrong for starters. If City have to pay towards every officer sent to a match then yesterdays police presence was a joke. If I were a senior police officer, with being forced by Westminster to make cuts and redundancies, I would send loads of police to a football match if I knew the football club would pay my organisation a wad of money. No one can complain, no one's going to believe a football club over the police if they complain. Hmmn Perhaps this is a matter for the new police commissioner, they are supposed to be making the police more accountable. Although I would suspect that City, or at least the few people at Ashton Gate capable of taking on such an issue have their eyes on other, possibly greater issues with the new ground at the moment. They can cross that bridge when the grounds built. In the meantime, they'll probably not complain about it.
Olé
It wasn't just police, Sherlock Holmes was in BS3 yesterday also (please tell me I wasn't the only one who saw him - 6' 6" and mad as a bag of spanners he was)

Port Said Red
The po followed some northern monkeys from KFC down to where the shitty asshole used to be. These guys were singing songs and being what you would expect from this sort of folk. A lot of mouth and not actually intimidating, but the police seemed at liberty to follow them. Bless them all and I hope they live a long and prosperous life.... The what??

YorkshireSection
Their firm (Barsnley 50) are pretty active, one coach travelled down today, OB picked them up early enough for there to be no "problems". The coach was a mix of older and mostly younger lads, the later are gobby as hell and have a reputation of getting themselves noticed, usually this would be frowned upon by the older lads as obviously the idea us to get to the said town/pub unnoticed. From what I've seen of them recently I think that it's probably in their best interest of getting an escort asap! They used to be 40/50 proper older lads, even took Cardiff by surprise a decade or so ago. Anyway, all a bit sad and a waste of time, momey and effort! Yaaaaaaaaaawnnnnn!!!
