cityexile
It is kind of frustrating we cannot beat the 100 points effectively set by the '55 team. However, got me thinking. Their record was 30W, 10D, 6L. Presumably then if we avoid defeat on Saturday, we will set a new club record for the lowest number of league defeats in a season, of 5? Unless anyone knows differently?
glynriley
Only lost 2 in 1905/06 but was only a 38 game season. Won 30 of those unall.
Port Said Red
16 unbeaten at the start, hopefully 16 unbeaten at the end..... those 5 defeats in the 14 in the middle must count as our "bad spell".
Cotham Brow Red
Whatever happens on Saturday we win a National League Trophy . Not belittling 60 years ago but it was 3rd Div South still an awsome achievement as you can only play what's in front of you. Surely this is more massive in the more professional age? 55 were awsome - saw someone today who kept the EP Pink'un from the time we beat Colchester 2-1 to win the league. This season is like walking on air
cidered abroad
1955 lost three on the bounce but 2015 only two consecutive defeats. Norwich City did the double over the 1955 side but none have beaten us twice in 2015. Both teams had superb team spirit, resilience and will to win. 1955 had Big John Atyeo but as there will only ever be one of him, the 2015 team have shared the goals around much more than 1955. The icing on the cake would be a goal by Frankie, but unless it is a penalty, there's only one Ray Cashley!
