ChippenhamRed
Just to say that Andrew Billingham has just tweeted the following:- "We will be announcing details over the coming days of a final pre-order period #Purple&Lime" Apologies if this was already known. ChippenhamRed
I guess the only issue is whether the new away kit is also purple and lime. If it is, and it matches the style of the new home kit, I'd probably rather buy that. Hopefully details of the new away kit will be announced first. cider hoss rules
if the new away was the same style as the new home kit, only in purple and lime, I cant see why they would order another batch of what would effectively now be an out of date kit. Billingham previously asked on Twitter if anyone would like another opportunity to order the purple and lime shirt, and got a very positive response. However I wonder how many of those saying they would buy one had considered the possibility that the new away shirt would also be purple and lime, which does change things. I think you're probably right - this suggests the new away shirt will be another colour.

View from the Dolman
a kit they won't be wearing ever again. Is that a fact? Or just an assumption?
ChippenhamRed
Is that a fact? Or just an assumption? Admittedly an assumption, based on the fact that they haven't worn any kit for two seasons in a row since I can't remember when. If it was to be retained as a third kit for next year, I would have expected them to mention that given they're now on sale again.

RedM
They sold it as a limited edition, but is that limited time or limited number? Well whatever, as it seems to have worked for us this season. Trouble is even though we have the same sponsor,( I assume)this seasons kit is a different design to last seasons, so seems outdated, unless next seasons away shirt has a collar etc? I think that those that haven't already bought into the purple and lime idea and are late to the party may now buy these shirts, or risk not having a P&L choice next season, it's a gamble. I would like to see P&L again though, maybe something totally different like the shirts that merge/graduate from one colour to another. I would want the purple to be 'strong' and the lime more Limey, almost glow in the dark (now there's an idea) and less green. Have you noticed how many teams are playing in purple-ish colours, even the Swines had in on in their playoff match. Also loads of keepers are playing in cerise pink/purples. What about a pinkish kit, would love that!

Leveller
The bit I find odd about this is that people were after this kit all season, why wait until it is over to cash in on the sales of it? For the buyer, obviously good still as a memento of a fantastic season. Better to buy one at the end of a memorable year than in anticipation of an unknown future. For the club - sheer disorganisation.
ChippenhamRed
Here's an idea, if you don't like it, don't buy it. Such a crap argument. If the club made ticket prices unreasonably high to the extent that you couldn't afford to go anymore would you say the same? Same principle. WolfOfWestStreet
"You don't have to buy it" is not an excuse for overpricing. Absolutely bang on. People defend overpricing in football with this statement ALL the time, weather it's tickets, shirts, pies or pints. Yes you "don't" have to buy anything in life, but if a pint of milk was a tenner when you knew it was only worth a pound would it still be fair game? Course not. ChippenhamRed
They haven't made it any more expensive than it was before. Pointless comparison. They are charging the same price for something that is now out of date and hence less valuable than it was before. Therefore it now represents poor value and in my opinion is unreasonably priced. Just saying "if you don't like it don't buy it" is no argument in defence of any company overcharging for anything.

Lrrr
Would want to know if we are having purple and lime again next year really, if yes then not a one off and I'll be happy to pay the price for a shirt we will wear in the coming season, if not then I'd really consider buying the shirt for that price if we aren't having purple and lime again anytime soon. Be that as it may, and I don't disagree with you that it is an iconic shirt, nonetheless you are still asking supporters to pay full price for an out of date shirt at a time of the season when all other clubs are reducing theirs. I do have some sympathy, however, it isn't old in the sense they have loads of stock lying around that they need shot of. Just because it's old colours doesn't make it cheaper to produce. Furious Custard
Its pretty clear that this is a final production run that they have decided to do because of the shirts popularity as it will not be returning next season. Has anyone read the official post on the website?. They don't even deliver till august. I ordered one last night. Its a new part of city history And I am very grateful of Bristol sport giving me a final chance to owning it.

I'm sure they will sell out of their order, put it that way. It's not an end-of-line sale, it's overwhelming demand. Clubs don't reduce their stock at the end of a campaign out of goodwill, it's so shift it.
