RED4LIFE
Dave Smith in 1989 - he'd ripped through us when playing for Gillingham the season before. Very fast left winger. Possibly my favourite ever City player. With Gavin down the right and Taylor and Turner in the middle, that was a great team to watch.

BS2 Red
David James This was the most exciting in recent times. He had not long come from playing for England at the World Cup and then was joining our team. It didn't quite work out but my god that was a massive signing! TETBURY MASSIVE
Dave Smith in 1989 - he'd ripped through us when playing for Gillingham the season before. Very fast left winger. A firm favourite of Mr Ian Alexander I believe... Especially his hips where he seemed to attach both feet when Smith went near him.

Major Isewater
Don't recall if it was a summer signing but when we signed Norman Hunter i was very happy . I thought " now we will stay up " . Mark Gavin , the stand out player for Bolton Wanderers ( whatever happened to them ? ) after we tonked them at Wembley .

One Team In Keynsham
Although looking back perhaps misplaced confidence: Michael Bridges and Marcus Stewart. Remember at one oint wondering how anyone would cope against us with those two, Lita and Brooker. Saw us at Exeter away in a pre-season friendly and we scored a hatful. Falsest of false dawns. Offside
Also some great players seem to slip under the radar when they sign for us. I didn't initially take much notice when Scott Murray joined us but what a player he turned out to be.

Ashtonboy
The resigning of Chris Garland. Kept us in the 1st division!
Southstandoriginal
Bobby Gould was a high profile signing at the time. Problem was we had to sell John Galley to get him.
PHILINFRANCE
Not Summer signings, but in the Spring with relegation a threat, I recall (apart from Norman Hunter) Peter Cormack and Ernie Hunt. There was also a left-half (an old phrase, I know) who we signed from Coventry - an unsung hero at the time.
Tinmans Love Child
Dave Smith in 1989 - he'd ripped through us when playing for Gillingham the season before. Very fast left winger. I loved Dave Smith so quick down the wing, along with Rennie, Newman, Taylor, Llewelyn, Gavin etc we had a great team then,

Talk Of The Town
I loved Dave Smith so quick down the wing, along with Rennie, Newman, Taylor, Llewelyn, Gavin etc we had a great team then, Yep. Smith quick, powerfull and skill full on the left. Mark Gavin more ball close to feet, skill full and good crosser on the right. Great wingers at that level
Admin Ian M Posted July 17, 2015 Admin Report Share Posted July 17, 2015 With the benefit of what we now know about him, Aden Flint. Solid at the back. Character. Opening goal at Wembley. Said no, live on Sky. Final day hat-trick. Scored a mid-air rabona volley. 15 goals from a Centre Back in one season. Unbeaten at Guess Who since 1997!
