Aizoon
Quite clearly, it's "on" Steepholm and "in" Australia, but where's the boundary? Is it "in" the Isle of Wight? "on" Anglesey? Enquiring minds need to know...

Enquiring minds need to know...Ok, I'll take a stab at this but I could easily be wrong. 'On' for both Anglesey and the Isle of Wight.Use 'in' if you are referring to an island which is a country, so you would be in Australia, in Cuba, in Iceland, or in the UK. Use 'on' in all other cases.

Aizoon
But down this way the local news always says in Scilly. But isn't that because Scilly is a group of islands. It might be on St Mary's, for example.
