handsofclay
Perhaps the best way of dealing with it would've been to have had a laugh about it, accept the fifty quid in pennies and then paid him his week's wages in pennies.
TRL
should have sent him back home with them.legally you do not have to accept more than a fivers worth of pennies. No problems then Not particularly funny, been done hundreds of times, just makes the player look an even more undisciplined arse than he is. bs3
My view is that Mark Copper was right. Is not a case of not having a sense of humour, the kepper was mugging the manager off.

The club give it to charity i guess, they should have got him to come back the next day with it in notes, after all he had to pay the fine, it wasn't like he had a choice not to pay if they refused the currency. I doubt they have the time or inclination to count the money to see if it is the correct amount. best thing pay the friggin fine and get over yourself mr football player, it was meant as discipline, because he turned up late, respect it, learn from it,don't take the piss out of it. I would not have sent him back, i would have fined him again., and keep doing it until the message gets into his thick head.,

Esmond Million's Bung
Swindon probably wanted 50p's or pound coins for the electric meter. or perhaps the sheriffs wouldn't take the coins.
BS4 on Tour...
To be fair Mark Cooper basically says in the article it was 'good banter, but the player accepted what he did was wrong'When I managed a team for 12 years it was hilarious how the players tried to get out of paying fines, one even offered me a date with his sis to avoid an £8.50 fine!
