AshtonGreat
So I was walking to work this morning and I got to thinking: if I could go to Ashton Gate this Saturday and watch any Bristol City XI from throughout history, who would I pick? But instead of picking my strongest ever team, I thought it would be fun to include three categories of player: 1. Players I have enjoyed watching in the past and would like to watch again (ENJ)2. Players I saw play many years ago, to see if they were as good as I remember (REM)3. Players who played before my time, to see if they were as good as everyone hypes them to be (HYP) And so, here is the XI I came up with...GK John Shaw (HYP)LB Terry Cooper (HYP)CB Keith Curle (REM)CB Glenn Humphries (REM)RB Bradley Orr (ENJ)LM Trevor Tainton (HYP)CM Gerry Gow (HYP)CM Gary Shelton (REM)RM Alan Walsh (ENJ)CF Bob Taylor (ENJ)CF John Atyeo (HYP) SUBSBilly Wedlock (REM)Clive Whitehead (HYP)Andy Cole (ENJ)Mark Gavin (REM)Joe Jordan (ENJ)Norman Hunter (HYP) What team would you pick? I can't tell you how bloody excited I was when Bridges signed... I honestly thought it was a sign of true intent!! As for Jody Morris- I never had the pleasure of seeing him play in a city shirt. Wonder if Xavi would still say he was one of his most difficult opponents....
