Sung by Lena Martell was number 1 in the UK Singles Chart, the last time City beat Leeds United in the League; on Saturday November 3, 1979: http://www.officialcharts.com/charts/uk-top-40-singles-chart/19791028/750140/

City won 3-1, but it was to be their final season in the top flight and relegation followed after a 5-2 defeat at Southampton in April 1980.

Here is a brief summary, from 'Bristol City - The Modern Era: A Complete Record', by David Woods:

Despite Eddie Gray driving in the opener after 28 seconds City gain a comprehensive win at Elland Road and move to within 6 points of the top of the table. A trio of headers clinches the points in front of a restless crowd who chant for the sacking of Leeds boss Jimmy Adamson.

Here is the City Line-Up and scorers:

1.  John Shaw

2.  Gerry Sweeney

3.  Clive Whitehead

4.  Kevin Mabbutt

5.  Alan Hay

6.  Geoff Merrick

7.  Tony Fitzpatrick

8.  Tom Ritchie

9.  Joe Royle

10. Jimmy Mann

11. Trevor Tainton

Scorers:

City: Mabbutt 20, 51, Merrick 54

Leeds: Gray 1

Attendance: 17,377

Returning to the charts, that week's top 30 singles contained a number of titles that could be directly related to City's current plight, or be a complete coincidence. I plump for coincidence, but what do I know. See for yourself:

Charlie Daniels there of course with his classic The Devil Went Down to Georgia at number, before he signed for Bournemouth 35 years later.

Nice to see The Selecter, Specials, The Jam and (one hit wonders) The Jags there as well.  When music was music!
