Damned if you do, damned if you don't!!

To say our transfer policy has been a disaster (if in fact we've actually had one) but it has to be said, in the eyes of some, the club can do no right.

They are out of order for showing "ambition" and trying to get Gayle, Gray & that Lyon striker & if they go for a realistic target, they are out of order for not showing "enough ambition"!!

What we have to realise is that we are in a relegation dog fight, it is unlikely that this is going to change for the rest of this season & that it's likely to go down to the wire.

Now everyone has agreed that we are short of numbers and the majority of people seem to be of the opinion that Agard, Wilbraham, Reid, Freeman, El-Abd, Williams & Burns aren't up to the standard of championship football, so we need extra bodies to help us out.

There was the odd murmur that Gladwin isn't up to standard & now we are rumoured to be in for Madine, he's already not good enough!! Even Matt Smith has been shot down before a bid has even gone in for him & after what can only be described as a fantastic loan period with us, which would bring a large amount of positives compared to other signings!!

The reality is, we have less than a week to get bodies in, we aren't an attractive proposition for 95% of players & we've had to massively drop our "ambitions" as to who we try to attempt to get in!!

The positives of signing Madine would be, it gives us an extra body, allows us to rest one or a few players throughout the rest of the season, it will weaken one of competitors & I would guess he's not going to cost us a huge amount.

This will then hopefully mean we are only fighting to avoid two relegation spots.

Bolton seem to be fighting tooth & nail to avoid administration & the points penalty that would bring, so maybe we've had to try & take advantage of their position in a different way?

Lets get behind the club, they need our support & hopefully we can get through this poor season with our championship status still intact & we can attack next season with a clearer game plan & we may look a little more attractive to some players with a finished stadium & having had a years experience in the division & hopefully our budget will of improved so that we can compete just a little bit better in the transfer market.

Now is the time that the club needs everyone pulling in the same direction & that direction should be to pull us out of the shit that we are currently in!!

What is surprising in our moment of need , we appear to have only one set of negotiations going on for Players and if that goes chest up , we are back to square one .

Is there really only one person trying to tie up deals ?

From Clough to Madine in 2 weeks, how the mighty have fallen.

We don't extra bodies, we need extra quality.

But the extra quality doesn't want to come here at present, so by getting extra bodies, it may help utilise what we already have.

And by that I mean by signing a "Wilbraham type", it will mean they can share the workload & maybe Wilbraham won't look like a 36 year old shattered striker who is having to play every minute of every game he is selected for & maybe he could get a bit fresher & know that he will only have to go all out for an hour, knowing that he has somebody waiting to replace him for the rest of the match?

Not awinspiring by any means but it may mean that he can go into games with a different mindset?

I think this post is off the mark. The problem is if we had gone for slightly more realistic targets in the summer (plus kept Cunningham IMO), whilst we had the momentum and were more attractive we could of got the likes of Dack easily and would possibly be in a better position now. Trouble is we set our sights too high then and now because we are in the doo-doo players who would of crawled here in July now don't fancy it because we look doomed.

So its a balls up and its not the fans fault. The board (and SC) have put themselves in this spot.

Is that not one of the points I was making?

We went for over ambitious targets in the summer & that has now left us where we are & having to readjust our targets.

But if the club hadn't of tried the ambitious targets in the summer they would of been slated for not going for big enough targets.

Im not sure where I have said that the club isn't at fault for any of this because I do believe they are massively at fault for the mess we are in but they now have to try & do something about the mess they have made but in many people's eyes, they are making a mess of it again!!

The trouble we have, as people have pointed out previously, is who or why would anyone want to sign for a club in a relegation battle without a manager in charge of things?

For instance, Madine could come in & then find out next week that our new manager instantly doesn't rate him & has a dislike for people that have done wrong in their personal life & he could find himself at a new club, not knowing anyone & not getting any game time because the new manager isn't willing to give him a chance!

It's a big risk for any player to want to come to us at this moment in time because of the previous mistakes made & the position we currently find ourselves in, both in regards to our league position & our off pitch goings on!!

Anyone that does come in now needs our 100% support & backing in my own personal opinion because anyone who does come in & thinks that he's already not wanted by the fans is unlikely to give his all for the cause & what we need right now is everyone pulling in the right direction to get us out of the shit & by that I mean everyone associated with the club.

We had targets to go for in the summer, had we moved quickly enough we may have got them. The board were left with a list and did nothing with it for too long. People assume because they heard the names Gayle and Gray that was the sort of signing we were going for all summer, which is rubbish. We didn't just suddenly realise we needed players in late August.
