That's quite funny, and a tricky one.  This whole giving the ball back thing is a bit of a nightmare, frankly.  Why not agree to throw it to an opposing player, who passes back to the keeper?

Mind you, what happens then if the keeper does a Scott Loach, misses the ball and it goes in...

 

A walk-in would seem fair

By that token, maybe sides should allow a walk-in after an own goal...

Not at all.  What I'm saying is, there's no accounting for freak occurrences.  I bet if that player tried 100 times again, he wouldn't score.  I'm not saying if someone ballses up and sticks one in their own net, then it shouldn't count.  I'm saying if someone gets injured, and then you throw it back to them, and their player turns it into his own net, then what?
