Never to the dark side
Not sure what the point is of asking for help SIX MONTHS after the event I can't remember what happened at the weekend in the same area(Lancashire) I presume the CCA tried to find out who was responsible on there own couldn't found out who was and then come to the general public for help http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/news/article/civil-aviation-authority-appeal-for-help-3080033.aspx
Rudolf Hucker
It was probably a Brighton fan who had flown to Leeds/Bradford airport to watch the game but realised that the only way that they'd be able to return home that day would be if they went straight back without watching the game so they persuaded the pilot to swoop low over Turf Moor so that they'd at least be able to see a bit of the action. My guess anyway. Don't know why I thought of it.
Robin1988
There's only one true football airplane story, and it involves the OP's difficulties with getting to Hartlepool.

He brought us in real low. But he couldn't handle it. Prosecutor: Buddy couldn't handle it. Was Buddy one of your crew? Witness: Right. Buddy was the bombardier. But it was Striker who couldn't handle it, and he went to pieces. Prosecutor: Andy went to pieces? Witness: No. Andy was the navigator. He was all right. Buddy went to pieces. It was awful how he came unglued. Prosecutor: Howie came unglued? Witness: Oh, no. Howie was a rock, the best tailgunner in the outfit. Buddy came unglued. Prosecutor: And he bailed out? Witness: No. Andy hung tough. Buddy bailed out. How he survived, it was a miracle. Prosecutor: Then Howie survived? Witness: No, 'fraid not. We lost Howie the next day. Prosecutor: Over Macho Grande? Witness: No. I don't think I'll ever get over Macho Grande. Those wounds run...pretty deep.
