RedRock
I think we should boycott attending Women's Institute meetings and watching Loose Women in protest. While we're at it we should support women's entitlement to their pension before men, celebrate the fact that they live - on average 4 years longer than men and yet have 80% of preventative health care budget spent on them and, finally, welcome the fact that women get paid the same as men for doing less work at Wimbledon! Life is full of injustices. Not saying it's right just balancing the argument.

Lrrr
The part being left out is that just because you're a man doesn't mean you'll be able to get membership there either, its a private members club who can admit who they want. If they want to accept they won't host major competitions as a result so be it.
Fiale
Seems all Male only clubs and groups have been pretty much forced to be open to women (including Scouts and Cubs) but it doesn't seem to work the other way.

Strange question, do you also think the Women's Institute are all Lesbians ? It's funny only the other day the BBC had a few stories on how men find it harder to make and keep friends out side of work, and the large negative effects it has on their mental health. Charities are trying to create groups so men can meet and socialise. Then when we get a all male club voting to remain that way people accuse them of being gay and unable to communicate with women... It was said tongue in cheek, I just find it a bit strange that's all. Notwithstanding they are denying women being able to be Members of one of the finest golf courses in the world, for what exactly...?

Very true. My local swimming pool recently changed around all it's schedules. Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 8.00 pm and 9.00 pm were always reserved for lanes to be installed. This was an opportunity to swim numerous lengths unimpeded, without kids messing about, or others swimming widths. This has now been scrapped to accommodate a "ladies group", where men are not permitted, of course. The evening lanes sessions have not been re-scheduled. Imagine the fuss if a "gentleman's group" session had been formed, where women are not allowed to join ?

JM91
Think a few on here have alluded to the problem. Recently, rather than being "anti-discrimination" the UK has become "pro positive discrimination". Basically, if you're white, male, athiest (or christian), heterosexual and you have remained the gender you were born you are the enemy.
Barrs Court Red
I've enjoyed the arguments against women being made part of the draft for the American military. Equality does cut both ways, or at least it should.
LondonBristolian
Where the Women's Institute example falls down is that, to my knowledge, there aren't men who want to join the WI and have been refused. It also doesn't manage large public sporting events and then tell female chief executives or commentators that they have to eat in the staff kitchen as they can't be in the main club. Similarly, I have to admit I don't really see the reason to get outraged at female-only swimming clubs or the female-only section of the gym. It would be lovely to live in an equal society (and the thisgirlcan campaign a couple of years ago was great and maybe shifted attitudes) but I completely understand that women might feel stigmatised or uncomfortable in a gym as, let's be honest here, many men do tend to ogle anyone in good shape or silently judge anyone is not. And frankly, in a country with an obesity epidemic, anything that makes people feel comfortable exercising is an inherently good thing. Ultimately I accept the golf club is a private members club and have every right to set their own rules but, by the same token, anyone observing has every right to criticise how archaic those rules are. And obviously it would be completely wrong to host any major golf event at a venue where some people will be excluded.
