CiderEagle
ON THE BENCH BOLOX How come at least two Championship teams (can't get used to typing that, it sounds too much like Champ Manager for my liking!) want Clayton yet he can't get into our first team? Tinnion has stated that he sees him starting a lot of games for us this year - for God's sake, Bri, pick him in central defence with Coles for the first game of the season! Guest Redarmy Ant
...........................Philips ...........Fortune.....Coles......Hill Murray......Wiltshire....Doherty....Brown(hope) ...........................Miller .............Heffernan......NewTargetMan Thats a mouthwatering selection. I think Tinman can see that Miller is best used off the front two, which is why were bringing in a target man to accompany the Heff, thats the only real reason i can think of as to why were bringing in a new striker. I'm pretty sure, at one stage of the season, well see this exact side. Clayton will be an asset next year, and i just hope Aaron stays.
Guest Dorito
Miller between the front two. This is a new one for me. Ideally this role requires a player who can drop into midfield when we are defending and find space between the front two when attacking. In attack the role needs a player who can either go past people and/or play a clever pass. I don't think Miller fits any of these criteria. In the absense of Rooney from our squad I think we have 3 choices: Roberts, Goodfellow or Wiltshire. All of these can do 2 of the 3 above. i.e. Roberts is head down and link play may be a problem. Goodfellow can not defend. Wiltshire can not beat people. In my opinion Miller is an out and out front man. I hope he is in the gym as we speak because his lack of stength is his biggest weakness at the moment.
Guest Redarmy Ant
I'm quite sure Miller played behind the front two in his last year for Falkirk, scoring many goals and causing a lot of problems. We cant buy Miller for 300k one year, spend over 100k on Heffernan and also pay more money for another striker similar to Miller and expect 1 of the 3 to sit on the bench, not to mention Lita, Gillespie and Roberts. Who could that 3rd midfield man be? Were apparently playing attacking football so you have to have an attack minded player in there, as Tommy and Luke are more 'grinding'. Roberts cant play there, i expect Tins to ween himself out next year so who else can it be really?

I'm pretty sure, at one stage of the season, well see this exact side. As i have said on a previous thread, Lee Miller could play the role of link up man for Bristol City, and play the role well i feel. In his last season at Falkirk, he was involved in what was almost a 3 man attack, with himself, Owen Coyle & Colin Samuel. Lee was the tallest of these players, with Sammy & Coyle being the smaller strikers feeding off Millers scraps. They all scored close to 20 goals that season, mainly because they took turns dropping deep, linking up play, then driving into the box, and scoring goals. Also I have said previously, at school boy level, Lee was our central midfield puppet master, he pulled all the strings from the middle of the park, and his performances got him recognised at Scottish school boy level. He is naturally a midfielder with an eye for breaking forward and scoring goals. When he broke into the Falkirk first team, he was used as a striker, and he scored goals. I feel he learned alot from playing with a seasoned campaigner like Owen Coyle. If Tinman felt Lee Miller was the man to play in the hole behind the strikers I think he would excel in that position, as he wouldnt be looked upon as an out and out goalscorer, and it would let people concentrate on the aspects of his game which he did well last year, like hold up play, linking up play etc. And as for all this " Lee Miller needs to go to the gym etc ", honestly if you knew him you wouldnt say he needed to go to the gym. Unfortunately for Lee, he has never been the biggest build wise. He has always been a regular at the gym, but all he can do with is size is tone it, and unless he took things like crayitine ( which produces fat on the muscle to allow you to get bigger ) he will never bulk up much more than he is. Although, if any of the people think he is lightweight, i would like to watch you go strength to strength with him on a pitch and see if he is lightweight. Personally I think it's more about body positioning and core stability. Lee gets knocked off the ball, more so when he is in the air, and while bulk will aid him in this he should focus on a bit more than that. Maybe a change of focus in the gym will help him??!! Guest Dorito
Whitey - As I outlined previously I think Wiltshire, Roberts and Goodfellow are better candidates for the 'player in the hole' role. However, you seem to have watched Miller in this position and think he is the man for the job - I hope to be proved wrong in the coming season. I certainly would find it interesting to see him to give it a go. I should hope he is a regular in the gym! Muscle bulk can be attained by anyone with the correct nutrients and training. As for creatine I would be disapointed if he is not on it! It does not add fat to the muscle, (I don't know where you got this from?), but does increase water retention. Strength gains are made by almost everyone who takes it and there are no known side effects. It's also not on the banned list. A must for most pro footballers. Robbored
Considering that Fortune barely got a look in under Wilson is amazing that so many other clubs are interseting in taking him off our hands. They obviously see something in him that Wilson didn't.

Good to have a bit of background on the big man. Not surprised he played the midfield general role in his younger days as he's the best forward at the club for dropping deep, holding the ball up and keeping possession. Bloody skilful too. I could see him getting a hatful arriving late to get on the end of a decent cross - Paul Scoles on stilts! Interesting that Heff expressed a preference for playing alongside a big man and I don't think you'd get many complaints from City fans about 2 strikers and one in the hole. Must fess up as one of those that taking about him needing to fill out. I suppose it's more about imposing himself on defences physically rather than how often he goes to the gym. That probably comes with experience as much as anything. That was about the only thing that Lee Peacock could do consistently well. But that's assuming we need a big forward to lump the ball up to. Personally, I'd like to think Tins will want to play the ball out rather that hoof and hope to a big man. If that's the case then, Miller is probably the best candidate for hold-up man. P.S. Hope you remember to give Lee a rack of stick as well as being supportive! The only "supportive" Email at work I get from mates is a load of sick porn! How about a pic of some minger Lee used to go out with just to redress the balance?
