Mad Cyril
So today I am shocked to read another City fan cruelly taken before his time. Many of us will remember Muhammad Ali on the terraces home and away supporting the team he loved. He changed his name from Cassius Clay as it cost too much to print that on his City shirt in the 60's, opting instead for the name of 'Ali', and from there his reputation grew and grew. He would always back the team and back his fellow reds, liking nothing better than a good punch up with rival firms. He was a proper scrapper back in the day and some of his dust ups have legendary status - when he took on Cooper from West Ham, wiped out Foreman and his entire Swindon crew, then decked Frazier the gashead. Amazing times. So Ashton gate will be quieter without the great man. It's too early to talk about the "Ali West Stand", but it would be fitting after the number of times he lead the charge to defend the enclosure from away firms. I am sure many of you can recall some great tales from the 70s mixing it with other fans and Ali leading from the front, resplendent with his silk city scarf tied round his huge wrist, matching his silk shorts. Feel free to share your memories here. Rest in peace fellow red. We will have a cider for you tonight.

redfred
Some of his fellow crew members are still around, Cyril. You can tell who they are as they are all in the same mould as Clay....
